Ben Rempel (Los Angeles) et Justin Gunter (New York) forment un duo de percussionnistes qui sort son premier album, « Live in Prospect Park » (2025, lien dans la bio), une série d'enregistrements improvisés en plein air sur des batteries, inspirés de courtes compositions polyrythmiques de Rempel.

Heavenly Metal est un trio montréalais qui joue de la musique improvisée en utilisant uniquement des instruments métalliques: Michel Bonneau (gong, percussions métaux), Jacques Gravel (trombone basse) et Scott Thomson (trombone ténor). C'est la première fois qu'ils se réunissent pour jouer devant un public depuis 2022.

Volume ∞ is out today!

We’re looking forward to everyone discovering previously unheard facets of Yug’s compositional work. Feedback is welcome: ours in your ears, yours in ours.

This album is also dedicated to the great saxophonist and human being Raymon Torchinsky, a member of the Atelier de Musique Expérimentale de Montréal in the 1960s and 1970s, and of the very secretive Trio Anonyme. Raymon passed away on April 27, 2026.

Play it loud in his honour.

Le Trio Infini, c’est Guy “Yug” Thouin à la batterie, Raphael Foisy à la contrebasse ( @smallscaleraph ) et Elyze Venne-Deshaies ( @lyzlaloba ) aux bois. Iels vous présenteront un set de musique improvisée et free jazz. Et mon p’tit doigt, me dit qu’il y aura des invité·es surprises. 😉

Ce sera une célébration (un peu tardive) des 86 ans de Yug, notre vétéran préféré, mais aussi une occasion de souligner la sortie le 1er mai 2026 de notre premier album Volume Infini ♾️ de l’ @ensembleinfini .

Nous aurons des CDs 💿pour notre soft launch party. Les vinyles attendront à la fin de l'été et nous vous préparons un lancement en bonne et due forme.

Improvisation, as a creative and generative praxis, fuels and guides his spiritual growth through an otherwise violent and hyper consumptive economic paradigm. He is a multi-instrumentalist influenced by Will Alexander, Anthony Braxton, Stan Brakhage, Solvey Johnsgaard, Susanna Hood, the A.A.C.M (creative music collective), among countless others (including his cats).

𝑵𝒂𝒐𝒎𝒊 𝑴𝒄𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒍-𝑩𝒖𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒓
Naomi McCarroll-Butler plays reeds, jaw harp, guitar, whistles, flutes and homemade junk instruments. She's involved with a wide community of collaborators crossing genre and discipline, orbiting the experimental music scenes of Montreal and Toronto. Naomi's music has something to do with freak folk, free improvisation, sci-fi, spiritual jazz, drone, and hymnal dirge. She's currently working on the first release from her filth-folk project @mer.agatha .

🎷​ 𝙑.𝙑𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙧 en show le 6 mai 2026 ​🎷

𝙑.𝙑𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙧 (b. Keith Wecker, 1983) ( @v.vecker ) is a composer, improvisor, and multi-instrumentalist using technology to explore his interest in the timbral and temporal possibilities that exist within electronic-based music. Utilizing sound design techniques to focus on the in-between sounds produced through a process developed around the act of layering, creating rich sonic textures that evoke a meditative sonic environment for the listener to immerse themselves in.

His personal approach to sound creation is highlighted by the diversity of the acts he
has shared showbills with (Tim Hecker, Clark, Sumac, Thundercat, Wolf Eyes, Six Organs of Admittance, Goblin, Lori Goldston and Sun Araw) as well as participating in projects of Anthony Braxton and Glenn Branca.

Keith has had his music featured across North America, including multiple appearances at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, New Forms Festival, VU Symposium, MOXSonic and Improvisors Summit PDX.
