Over a meal at @chebogzfilipinofood in North Beacon Hill, Jane Wong (@paradeofcats) interviewed Tamiko Nimura (@tamikonimura) to discuss her new memoir, “A Place for What We Lose.”

Tamiko’s book delves into the layers of her family’s incarceration at Tule Lake from 1942 to 1946: one of the many camps in which more than 125,000 Japanese Americans were incarcerated during World War II.

Weaving excerpts from her father’s unpublished memoir, Tamiko sings forth the grief of losing her father, while also uncovering her family’s past by venturing herself to Tule Lake as an adult.

“In reading ‘A Place for What We Lose,’ I kept feeling portals of time open,” Jane writes. “And, as such, this is a book that doesn’t quite end.”
