Hey. I’m Sonia.

Musician. Comedian. Actor. Writer. Mom. RMT.

I love science and I love things that don’t make sense.
I feel everything and cry a lot - happy, sad, joyful, mad.
I have been an artist my whole life but, like many, have had my art stifled at different times, by others and by myself.
I have done SO MUCH therapy. It’s been the very best thing for me.
I have won awards, written a play, made albums, massaged celebrities, and performed on many stages - but parenting my girls is by far my favourite thing I’ve done.
I am divorced. Which is both hard and awesome.

I love baking, especially chocolate chip cookies. In fact, after I post this, that’s what I’m doing next.

I’m an extrovert. People tell me I’m intimidating, and to be honest, it makes me sad every time. Because what I really am is a little person trying to fit in and be pals.

I’ve never felt cool, and now I have a bunch of standup about that.

Doing comedy for the last year has made me feel so free, as though this one spicy part of me had nowhere to go for so long and now it does.

I bonk my head a lot. On everything. It’s big, so I guess it can’t be helped.

I have an incredible family and my siblings are my best friends and I know that makes me very lucky.

Lately I’ve been working on cultivating closer friendships, especially with powerful women. It’s nice.

I have approximately a bajillion goals, give or take a few, and I am one of the most driven people you’ll meet. I can confidently say that part. I think with age you start to feel better about just telling people what you know for sure about yourself.

Writing songs is one of my favourite things to try and get good at.

On stage is where I feel most like myself. Anywhere else is medium.

I was anxious before we knew that was a word. I struggle daily with anxiety and not a lot of people know that. I also work on it daily.

Lots of the time, I manage to feel properly grateful for every part of my life so far. And some days I cry in the kitchen for 3 hrs because I’m lonely and overwhelmed - like yesterday.

I love swimming. Taught myself how last year.

I enjoy riding a bike. Playing boggle. Hugs. Kissing.

Just over a week ago I experienced the very surreal and magical moment my name was called as winner for Outstanding Sound Design or Composition for my one woman musical, Two Moons. I feel like my brain has slowly been accepting it as truth! To be in the category with ridiculously talented colleagues and pals…it really was hard to imagine who might take it. I am beyond grateful to have my work seen, examined and celebrated like this. What a feeling!

The Two Moons team was exceptional. I wanna properly thank @jacqjeanscene for her guidance from the beginning. As a human being and friend, she rose above her own challenges to be a part of this process, and to show up with grace, attention and love. As a director, she rocked my world daily, challenging me to dig deeper and find even MORE intention and clarity, holding space for the whole team to thrive in their departments, and really just being the queen bee of our little hive. THANK YOU.

To @sillyniamh our stage manager, your calm presence was essential to creating the environment needed to polish the show up. You’re a lovely human, so talented and capable, and you will make so many creative processes better for being a part of them. THANK YOU.

@alexjprich you are an absolute organizational, logistical and technological wizard. Without you, we’d have never gotten our poop in a group in time to open. I was regularly stunned at the amount of information you managed to keep straight, while also being a great mother and having numerous other gigs. You are the boss of everything, in my opinion. THANK YOU.

@maezy.reign , our projection designer, and a beautiful writer and art maker genius. You’re an exciting person to have around, your ideas are endlessly the best ones, AND you’re so kind and hilarious?! I can’t begin to imagine all the wild things you’ll create in your career and the places you’ll go to do it. Trust yourself, my friend. You’re the coolest. THANK YOU.

@natalitahh our set designer and projection mapper, I loved watching your brain meander through colours and shapes, and make sense of all the ideas we were throwing at you. Not an easy feat! Thank you for your peaceful energy!
