I’ve been working on a new BP album. I’m excited about it, but I’ve abandoned it a couple times. I feel it’s unethical to waste people’s time with music you don’t think is dope.

Anyway, there’s a song on this album that samples a single note of Stevie Wonder’s voice. I really love the way it sounds.There’s so much life and communication in Stevie Wonder’s singing.

The sample is just one note, but it carries… I don’t know how to describe it… Exultation? Ecstasy?Hope? Yearning? I don’t know.

There’s a current of feeling in it.Feeling is all I care about.

One of my friends suggested I try to reach Stevie Wonder himself and make a direct plea.But stating the obvious, I am worlds away from that guy.I wish!

So, knowing that we could probably never afford to clear a sample of Stevie Wonder, I knew I had to find an alternative source for this sound.

My solution ultimately was to reconstitute the sound with @soniccharge’s groundbreaking Synplant 2 software.

For lack of a better explanation, this technology basically gets “inside” a sound at the “dna” level.It allows you to create and manipulate sonic textures in a way never before available.

I’m a huge lover of analog gear and I almost always prefer analog tech to digital, but I’m really impressed by and grateful for the amazing strides that are happening in the digital world.
