spæs lab for spatial aesthetics in sound Berlin
exploring relationships between sound and space from the perspective of aesthetics
spæs Lab Berlin in cooperation with Sound Studies Lab Copenhagen is delighted to invite you to a workshop under the working title “Towards Critical Immersion Studies”, to be held at Studio N324, TU Berlin and online on Monday, 18 May 2026.
Immersion has become a pivotal concept in the creation and experience of sound and sensory artifacts in the early 21st century.
It is discussed from the perspectives of media technology and history, musical aesthetics, the poetics of sound art, critical theory, the anthropology of the senses, and multi-sensory design. Rather than settling on a single definition, we treat immersion as a genuinely multifaceted concept — one that generates critical reflections on the functions, practices, technologies, and imaginaries surrounding what immersion is, was, should, or might (not) be. This broader scholarly and artistic inquiry is what we are calling Critical Immersion Studies.
This workshop is conceived as an intimate gathering of researchers, artists, and practitioners who share an interest in these questions and servers as a first step towards a larger follow-up symposium, planned for Copenhagen in summer 2027.

In Concert 02 of Crushed Now — After Turing // Beyond Presence the co-presence of human, technology, and traditional instrument — bodies, artifacts, and sounds — encounter, interact, and collide gesturally in dense, complex constellations. Through the intra-action of a violin, a clarinet, electroacoustic spatial sound compositions, and the moving bodies of the performers, space becomes relational, temporal, and collaboratively constructed.
An AI-generated video installation, situated in the foyer, engages with the archetypes of the machine-mind and mirrors the spectral resonance of the human gesture. Both performers and spectators are invited to observe, engage, and inhabit—thereby becoming co-creators of a unique, yet collective listening experience.
Violin: Emmanuelle Bernard

Crushed Now is a series of five concerts in which human and artificial actors become equal partners in play, creating and shaping rhythm, sonic textures, and resonance to define sound as space. Human–machine intra-action becomes a reciprocal, co-creative process creating a hybrid spatiology that reshapes not only the concept of instrumentality, but also the socio-cultural architecture of performance.
In Concert 02: Temporal Compression Emmanuelle Bernard and @perezinesta interpret works of
Brett Dean
Iannis Xenakis
Thierry de Mey
Claude Vivier
Samir Odeh-Tamimi

Crushed Now // After Turing Beyond Presence is a series of five concerts featuring thirteen artists performing in shifting constellations.
Together, they expand the concept of instrumentality and sound as space. Human–machine exchange becomes a reciprocal, co-creative process that reshapes the socio-cultural architecture of performance.
In Concert 02: Temporal Compression time manifests as density, layering, and collision rather than flow.
Performance unfolds as a compositional spatial practice where gesture is a negotiated (im)balance between human and machine, generating collective, relational modes of listening.

In the concert series ‘Crushed Now — After Turing // Beyond Presence,’ instrumentality is reimagined as an aesthetic, perceptual, and social practice that reconfigures traditional concert situations and generates collective, relational modes of listening. Performance itself unfolds as a compositional spatial practice in which gesture is continuously negotiated as a dynamically produced (im)balance between human and machine.

Currently deep in the process of composing for ensemble, voice, electronics, and spatialisation with 3 IKOS.
This marks another chapter in my ongoing research into shared perceptual spaces within XR environments.
Grateful for the journey.

Taking place from 12 to 15 May 2026, this Summer School explores the myth of immersion associated with spatial audio, addressing both technical and practical questions in artistic sonic production and examining the relationships and conditions that shape interactions between humans and loudspeaker technologies.
Drawing on examples from music and sound art, the programme investigates varied understandings—and misunderstandings—of space, encouraging individual perspectives and opening new directions for contemporary practice.
Music-making and Sound Art are framed as a forms of critical engagement with both self and technology, where listening and composition become tools for exploring how personal perception can evolve into shared experience.

Together with @urbiks__music, spæs Lab’s @gksh_lab led a three-day masterclass on composing sonic spaces using loudspeaker arrays.
Starting with a chaptered overview of the roughly 40,000-year history of spatial audio and site-specific sound projection, the course moved through comparisons of contemporary tools and instruments.
Theoretical and practical questions were explored and developed through selected multichannel compositions from the past 80 years.
At the center of the masterclass was the question of the conditions under which shared perceptual spaces can emerge within mediated and digitally controlled sonic environments.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
