My next single "Workflow" is out 06 Dec on Concrete Law. Footwork-inspired dubstep sampling Rashad. Huge thanks to Pharma & Sedan for having me. On the swipe is recent positive feedback which I'm so grateful for, and the full reel for the forthcoming VA. Link in the usual spot

CALL FOR PAPERS →
🎧🎛💃🕺 'What makes a DJ performance tick musically?'

Announcing the call for proposals for the 2027 edition of Dancecult: Journal of Electronic Music & Dance Culture on "the DJ set".

📝🖊️⌨️ we are seeking contributions from scholars and from the community: DJs, creators, booking agents, journalists,...

This special issue of Dancecult aims to expand and deepen scholarly discussion of the DJ set: the live event and musical object around which much of electronic dance music culture revolves. We invite proposals for research that will build on these and more recent efforts by taking analysis of the DJ set and DJ performance, broadly understood, into new territory with respect to genre, space, sound, technology, identity, history, music and cultural theory, and more.

From the Floor (FTF) articles: We aim to complement academic essays with opinionated or otherwise subjective takes on the DJ set from individuals and collectives within the scene. We especially encourage alternatives to academic writing that may be journalistic or poetic in style, and innovative presentational formats including interviews, musical essays in the form of bespoke mixes or conceptual DJ sets, and reports.
In addition, we specifically encourage proposals that take the form of commentary, such as responses to hot-take opinions or questions like "What makes a DJ set fail?", and criticism, including reviews of recorded mixes or live performances and responses to broader fields of practice that elicit novel perspectives on the DJ set.
We will give preference to work that plans to be enriched with image, audio, video, or other online content.

Interested?
📆✅ send a 250-word proposal by 1 June 2026 to:
📧 the_dj_set@mail.de

full call and all deadlines:
🌐 dj.dancecult.net > announcement

editors: Lorenz Gilli, Johannes Hentschel,
Dennis Mathei, and Ivan Mouraviev

Dancecult is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal for the study of electronic music and dance culture (EMDC). A platform for interdisciplinary scholarship on the shifting terrain of EMDCs worldwide, the journal houses research exploring the sites, technologies, sounds and cultures of electronic music.

Two years of work has finally come to fruition. Me and @spectredsp thought it was time to really state a claim for discontinuity in DJ performance, when most (academic) writing still sticks to dominant readings from house and techno and ignores innovations from the early days of dub through to grime and dubstep.

We went deep on sets from Sicaria Sound (@lounouronline + @miakoden) and @sirspyro to show why.

The article is out now w/ Journal of Popular Music Studies. Swipe right ➡️ for more info, diagrams and a mad dub from @kabzinside that still needs to see the light of day 🥲

Link in bio w/ full access to the article.

#grime #dubstep. #djing

RIP Teddy Bruckshot 🕊️ 🙏

For its next event, Bait teams up with Bristol-based label @dime.shift for an evening of big wobbles and syncopation in every sense.

Dimeshift is known for its releases that pay homage to the precursors of dubstep: Loefah, Skream, Horsepower Productions… that period in the early 2000s when UKG flirted with grime, dub, techno, and mutated into a darker, non-linear sound...

Nantes-based DJ and producer @soa42o__ will be at the party to promote her sick EP “No Nerve”, just announced on Bait.

Also playing is Dimeshift founder @axle_sound, who is part of the 2-steppy grime instrumental revival (check out his latest EP on @spec_records).

From New Zeland but now based in Bristol, we’re also pleased to be hosting @spectredsp, the artist who connects Bait and Dimeshift, having released on both labels. You can listen to his remix of @_hyas’s “Soulless”, the original track was Bait’s first release.

And last but not least, delighted to have Birmingham-based Rinse FM resident @_sharnie on the lineup, close to Axle’s label, with a sound that fits very well with Bait: she fuses deep techno and bass in her sets, always with an immersive, hypnotic approach.

Write the date in your agenda: 21st of September at @pointephemere. See you there, headz!

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
