Since the first foreign booking we did 10 years ago, Yes had a pleasure to host close to 40 acts from all over the globe - from Melbourne, New York, Bogota to London, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Moscow and many more.. The second installment of our Karmakoma residency brings probably the biggest name we had a chance to book so far - a Bristol-based DJ, producer and Cosmic Bridge label owner Jim Coles, professionally known as Om Unit.
Jim has never been an easy producer to pin down sonically. But if one is able to zoom out on the years of exploration in the potentials of beats, the space of slow-motion house music, the darkest corners of drum & bass & the hardcore continuum and now his more mature take on acid, dub, breaks and techno, one can see there is a lineage in his unique approach to various musical tropes fashioned from experience, experimentation, and excitement.
His explorations into electronic music have flourished through releases for Civil Music – including his critically acclaimed debut LP “Threads”, followed by 2014’s “Inversion” album, where legendary drum & bass outfit Metalheadz gave him access to Goldie’s personal sample archive. On top come releases for Planet Mu, All City Records, Baroque Sunburst, 3024 and dBridge’s Exit Records.
