Our work with the team centred around a bold identity that is accessible and attractive to a number of local and international guests: a space for Sunday lunches with the family, business meetings, tourists, and girl’s nights out alike.

The service philosophy is elevated yet unpretentious (by @garyiscooking and a.plourde007), which led us to using a typographic system inspired by street signs and hand painted windows, as opposed to the typical script fonts seen extensively in Italian restaurants. As part of the identity, a vibrant terracotta and cream color pairing translated the beautifully furnished interiors into the identity, and mimics the blazing sunshine that streams through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

(1/3) Our comprehensive work for @stil.1827 encompassed naming, creative direction, brand identity, print collaterals, website design, and social launch—taking inspiration from the historic flooding events in Flanders to create a boutique hotel experience centered on rejuvenation and escape.

The name itself—“Stil” evokes stillness of water—and forms the conceptual foundation for a brand that offers respite from urban intensity. We developed a distinctive logo with fluid motifs that reference the region’s historical relationship with flooding, creating a visual language that feels both rooted to the location and deeply resonant for guests.

Beyond visual touchpoints, our approach extended to crafting a comprehensive verbal suite where website copy embodies the sensation of tranquility through deliberate pacing and tonal qualities.

This integrated direction positions Stil 1827 as a new paradigm of slow luxury in the Belgian countryside—a place where modern amenities and thoughtful design create spaces that encourage genuine relaxation and contemplation.

The effectiveness of this holistic brand approach is evident in the results: Stil 1827 averaged 62% in direct bookings within a few monthly post-launch, significantly outperforming the European average of 27%.

The best use of technology in hospitality has nothing to do with automation for automation's sake

Technology performs best when it handles the moments you physically cannot be present for:

Check-in at 2am when your front desk is sleeping, checkout surveys sent automatically, keycard programming, routine requests that happen outside operating hours

These are perfect candidates for technology

When you use tech to handle mundane tasks, you liberate your staff to do what technology will never replicate - having genuine conversations with guests

The front desk associate who's not stuck programming keycards can actually talk to arriving guests and understand their desires for the stay

Or the concierge who’s freed from printing directions and learns what guests are wanting to experience on a night out.

Those human interactions generate richer information than any CRM or preference system ever will

Your staff are on the ground, they pick up on body language, tone, hesitation, and they understand context in real time

They catch the subtle cues that reveal what a guest actually needs versus what they're asking for on the surface level

This is the dynamic that separates properties with great technology from properties with great experiences
