@studio_samlinders

Sam Linders (1990) wordt vaak omschreven als beeldend kunstenaar, maar werkt daarnaast ook als material designer en onderzoeker. Ze beweegt zich moeiteloos tussen artistieke expressie en materiaalonderzoek.

Na haar afstuderen aan de Design Academy Eindhoven in 2015 begon ze met het verkennen van een breed scala aan materialen. Haar praktijk omvat onder andere leer, textiel, natuurlijke kleurstoffen, mycelium en klei.
Haar werkwijze is geworteld in nieuwsgierigheid en experiment.

In plaats van een resultaat te forceren, laat ze het materiaal het proces sturen. Dit leidt tot werk dat puur, tactiel en authentiek aanvoelt. Sam combineert traditionele ambachten met technische processen en verfijnt elk object met de hand, waarbij de stem van het materiaal zichtbaar blijft.

Aan het begin van haar carrière werkte Sam samen met trendforecaster Lidewij Edelkoort en later bij ECCO LEATHER, waar ze seizoenscollecties ontwikkelde en innovatieve technieken creëerde in samenwerking met internationale modehuizen.
De afgelopen jaren ontwikkelde Sam een diepe passie voor keramiek.

Klei fascineert haar door zijn eerlijkheid en onvoorspelbaarheid: “elke handeling laat een spoor na en het proces is nooit volledig te controleren.” Deze spanning tussen controle en loslaten vormt de kern van haar werk. Met natuurlijke kleikleuren en stooktechnieken creëert ze subtiele variaties die de ruwe schoonheid van het materiaal eren.

Vandaag de dag werkt Sam als freelance designer en researcher. Ze werkt samen met bedrijven aan materiaal- en kleurprojecten en blijft haar keramische praktijk verder ontwikkelen.
In al haar werk blijft één principe constant:
het materiaal leidt.

Zondag 1 maart 14-18u opend Artrium de expositie ATYPICAL/UNHOLD samen met Sam Linders en Hanneke Wetzer!

Clay in Motion – New Work

This wall sculpture moved from tube to flat. shaped by hand, defined by movement. The flowing lines are created with two coloured clays, revealing a strong graphic rhythm. Look at the shine, the depth, the motion. It almost floats on your wall.

Deze wandsculptuur ging van tube naar plat, met de hand gevormd en vol beweging. De vloeiende lijnen zijn opgebouwd uit twee verschillende kleurtinten klei, wat zorgt voor een sterk grafisch ritme. Zie de glans, de diepte, de beweging. alsof het werk zweeft aan de muur.
