Join us on the 25th of March at Bar Doña to help raise money for the queer film A HEART IS A BEACH! This will be a delicious and sexy night of queer film screenings and live performances across drag, burlesque, clown, performance art and more! Featuring new and old members of Haus of Intrusive Thots as well as DJ sets, pussy and prizes, come down for a glittering mid week party, all for a good cause! Let’s get more queer films made together!!!

(This event also doubles as a birthday party for Thots producer Scarlett Love Stitt so there might even be cake <3)

We’re doing something incredibly vulnerable and scary… we’re fundraising for our next film!

A Heart is a Beach is a queer spiritual-political film set in coastal Bridlington, written by Scarlett Love Stitt. It follows the story of Mouse, who suffers a heart attack and returns to her childhood home for her recovery period, where she meets Brigid, a free-wheeling, isolated spirit who has been squatting in her house. At first, it’s tense; but as the story unfolds, Brigid and Mouse discover the secrets of the sea.

Exploring recovery and rebirth, lost goddess culture in the UK and an unlikely friendship between two queer women, it asks whether healing is an individual journey, or one that must be embarked on hand-in-hand. The film is a reminder of the transformative power of the sea, calling for connection in an ever-divided country.

We need YOUR HELP! We are trying to raise funds to ensure that this film gets made, and are relying on support from our community to make this film happen. More than that, we want this film to directly benefit the community we’re portraying. By working with local creatives, we’re not just making a film about Bridlington, we’re making it with the people who know and love it.

- Directors Statement -

Given that 1 in 5 men will experience major depression in their lifetime, and that suicide remains the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK, it feels impossible to ignore this topic. I’ve lived through it myself, and I’ve seen some of my closest friends wrestle with it too.

TONIC explores how depression can feel isolating and unpredictable, and how it shifts shape even within the same day. It also looks at how a single, small act of kindness can momentarily cut through the fog, just long enough to glimpse away up to the surface.

Masculinity doesn’t have to be a toxic and dirty word: Men are capable of incredible gentleness and compassion. There is a way forward that is full of light, but this starts when men make space for each other and their emotions without judgement or fear.
