With a select number of exhibitors specialising in pre-contemporary art and each showcasing just two or three works, Studiolo offered a curated, high-level experience that reimagined how we view, share, and connect with art and design. Thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable launch.

Agnews • Benappi Fine Art and Harry Gready • Patrick Bourne & Co • Charles Ede • Enrico Frascione Antiquario • The Limner Company • Maak • Stephen Ongpin Fine Art • Stuart Lochhead Sculpture • Tomasso • Ward Moretti • The Weiss Gallery • Wildenstein & Co. Inc.

Studiolo aims to support and promote art dealerships specialising in paintings, sculpture and decorative arts, by offering a new selling model and opportunities for engaging with private and institutional collectors.

Named after the Italian “Studiolo”, the room dedicated to the display of art and treasured objects in Renaissance palaces, Studiolo was created in 2024 by Sebastien Paraskevas and Alesa Boyle, who previously co-founded Trois Crayons.

Mindful of the evolving trends in collecting and of the changing ways in which individuals access and acquire art, Studiolo aims to harness the opportunities offered by this new landscape and combine them with the expertise of its member galleries.

At Studiolo 2025, historian and novelist Sarah Dunant joined us to share insights from her new novel ‘The Marchesa.’

Inspired by Isabella d’Este, the Renaissance’s foremost female collector, patron, and creator of her own celebrated studiolo, the conversation explored art, power, and the enduring legacy of women at the centre of cultural life.

Stay tuned for upcoming announcements as we look ahead to Studiolo 2026.

At @studiolo.projects, Charles Ede celebrated the beauty and craftsmanship of ancient Roman glass by bringing together hand-blown glass dating from the 1st-4th centuries AD with floral arrangements by royal-warrant holding Shane Connolly (@shaneconnollyandco) in an extraordinary variety of forms and colours.

Shane Connolly, internationally acclaimed for his elegant, naturalistic approach to floral design, carefully chose and arranged these pieces, celebrating their craftsmanship and highlighting their use as everyday objects in the Roman home. His floral designs paired the glass with seasonal flowers, enhancing the beauty of each piece and emphasizing its relevance as a functional work of art.

Charles Ede is a Mayfair based gallery that specialises in ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian works of art. Established in 1971, Charles Ede has a long-standing tradition of offering well provenanced and well researched works, and in 2024 expanded its remit to include 19th and 20th century paintings and pictures.

At @studiolo.projects, Wildenstein & Co. presented two French Old Master paintings that reflect their longstanding commitment to 18th-century French art.

Their presentation featured a charming work by Jean Honoré Fragonard, ‘Venus and Cupid,’ or ‘Day, called Venus Offering Crowns,’ which was likely preparatory to a larger version commissioned for Louis XV’s last mistress, the Comtesse du Barry, to decorate her Château de Louveciennes.

Also on view was a still life by Anne Vallayer-Coster, offering an interesting counterpart to Fragonard’s Rococo fantasy. In fact, her paintings were praised by Diderot for being rooted in ‘truthfulness.’ A favourite of Queen Marie-Antoinette, she was among the few prominent female artists of her time, celebrated for her masterful floral compositions, such as the one presented here.

Wildenstein & Co. Inc. is a renowned international art gallery and dealership, established in the late 19th century by Nathan Wildenstein. Based in New York City since 1902, with historical roots in Paris and a presence in London since 1934, the firm has played a significant role in the global art market, particularly in Old Master, Impressionist, and Post-Impressionist art. This year marks their 150th anniversary.

At @studiolo.projects, The Weiss Gallery presented two rare Dutch panel portraits which depict boys holding kolf clubs and balls.

The Dutch game of het kolven, which is similar to modern golf, was played in streets, in public squares, or anywhere there was sufficient space. The cost of this sporting activity, mainly in broken windows, was not welcomed by city authorities, so players adapted the game so that it could be played on the old maliespel (malie being a similar game) courses, which mostly adjoined taverns and inns. In the winter months it was played on the frozen canals, as famously portrayed by Hendrick Avercamp.

The popularity of this game is apparent from the number of paintings and drawings
from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in which the game is depicted. The
image of a child holding a kolf club and wearing formal dress, as seen in both of these early examples, became a particularly popular format in children’s portraiture during the seventeenth century.

The Weiss Gallery was founded in 1985 and has become the leading dealer in Tudor, Stuart and North European Old Master portraiture. Over the past three decades, the gallery has made many notable sales, which now grace distinguished private and public painting collections around the world, including the National Portrait Galleries in London and Edinburgh, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Seattle Art Museum in the USA, and the National Gallery of Victoria, Australia.

At @studiolo.projects, Ward Moretti presented a gouache by Joan Miró and a unique ceramic by Pablo Picasso.

The Picasso ceramic is numbered and dated 21 January 1948/ II, and it is one of a large series of similar platters that the artist decorated that winter. It is a unique work, completed when he was experimenting by painting directly onto plates. Before firing, this platter was first dipped in a white glaze with touches of copper oxide, and then painted with a brown slip to define the border and the faun’s facial features.

Ward Moretti is one of the leading international galleries for art from the Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, Modern and Post-War periods. The gallery is renowned for handling exceptional artworks, its thorough due diligence & research and knowledgeable approach to the complexities of the art market.

At @studiolo.projects, Tomasso presented a Marble Bust of a Greek Philosopher by Baccio Bandinelli and a Portrait of a Woman Holding a Crown of Laurels by Sebastiano Luciani (called Sebastiano del Piombo).

The Marble Bust is a masterful Italian Renaissance adaptation of the ancient prototype with the addition of an oval-shaped draped bust as an inventive enhancement to the fragmented original.

The painting is a recently rediscovered portrait of a refined and self-assured female sitter. The image type is part of the Venetian tradition of idealised female portraits first popularised by Giorgione, Titian and Palma Vecchio.

Tomasso was founded in Leeds, Yorkshire, in 1993, by brothers Dino and Raffaello Tomasso. Today, they head the gallery alongside the next generation of the Tomasso family. Specialising in European Sculpture, Master Paintings and Ancient Art, they are recognised internationally for their particular expertise in European Renaissance bronzes.
