Another incredible and inspiring week 🙌

A glimpse into the second stage of R&D for the “NOW” project, co-led by Lizzie Klotz @lizzieklotz and Duffy @darklydreamingduffy.

The project explores the idea of “Now” — what it means to be truly present in the moment. Through movement, conversation, and creative experimentation, the week opened up new questions, discoveries, and possibilities that will help shape the beginnings of a new work.

A huge thank you to the brilliant artists Nadeem Islam @nadeemrules, Jenny Chrisp @jennychrispdance, Chris Fonseca @itschrisfonseca, Annie Dearnley @dear_annie_arts, and Jesse Salaman @jessesalaman, and to our wonderful BSL interpreters Faye Alvi @fayealvi and Iona Padden Duncan @ionapd.

And a big thank you to Newcastle Dance Centre @newcastledancecentre for hosting us, and for those who came to watch the informal sharing.

More to come — watch this space ✨

As we begin to come to the end of this year’s Deaf Awareness Week, we want to reflect on why BSL inclusion in the workplace truly matters 🌱

Creating accessible workplaces is not just about policy, it’s about communication, culture, and making sure Deaf people feel genuinely included, respected, and empowered.

British Sign Language (BSL) is a rich and vibrant language used by thousands of Deaf people across the UK, yet many workplaces still lack confidence and awareness in how to communicate inclusively. Learning even basic BSL can help break down barriers, build stronger relationships, and create more welcoming environments for everyone.

At Surface Area Dance Theatre, we are committed to continuing our own learning and advocacy around Deaf awareness and accessibility:
✨ Our Founder & CEO is Level 6 BSL qualified
✨ Our General Manager is Level 3 BSL qualified
✨ Our Producer begins Level 1 BSL journey this month

We believe learning never stops, and that investing in accessibility is investing in people.

We are also excited to share that this month we will officially launch our British Sign Language & Deaf Awareness Training and Consultancy services.

Keep a look out for further information coming soon.

This week is Deaf Awareness Week (4–10 May 2026), with the theme: “Right to understand – Together, we break barriers.” 🌱

At Surface Area Dance Theatre, this reflects our mission to connect dance, sign language, and Deaf culture, creating work that centres accessibility, representation, and shared understanding between D/deaf and hearing communities.

We believe understanding is a right, not a privilege, and we’re committed to breaking down barriers through creativity and collaboration.

🙌 Follow us this week as we share how we put this into action.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
