I had never ridden a wave. I had never stared the crashing barrel in the face and felt the rush of anticipation waiting for the next set like I watched these guys do that morning…but I knew I could relate. Like a day of snowmobiling where the parking lot has 18 inches of powder or feeling the howling wind on our necks before we’re even in the duck blind. Fish rising before the boats even in the water kind of anticipation that almost hurts your bones.

These are the things that translated to me after desperately trying to figure out why I was feeling this way.

I remember standing on shore feeling like an athlete that got thrown in the penalty box. My skills just weren’t built yet, and it was the most frustrating thing I had to quickly learn how to navigate.

I was asked to do a job and that was shoot the surf. What a privilege it was to get in the boat and document the boys and their stoke. It bleed all over me and I loved every second of it.

Just got out of the mighty Fiordlands of New Zealand after an amazing journey shooting all the things I love the most.

Still can’t believe the places these cameras have carried me and the beautiful people and relationships I’ve created along the way.
