Tompkins County Public Library
We envision a library where everyone can belong and find joy in learning, discovery, and personal growth • #Ithaca, NY
We made a Book Wagon!
Thanks to our friends at @bklynlibrary, we were able to create a miniature portable library following their plans. To fill the wagon, we have books we bought from the @ithacabooksale on Bag Day - it all comes back to supporting our community!
Come see the new wagon - and grab a book - at Ithaca Festival this weekend!
#VideoDescription: A timelapse video of Library Assistant Ally assembling a green, metal wagon with large wheels.
The captions read, "At TCPL, we’ve been trying to figure out the best way to get resources into the community. We looked to our fellow libraries for inspiration, and came upon Book Wagon plans from the Brooklyn Public Library."
Then, a video of Ally pulling the wagon into the circulation workroom, showing it off.
The caption reads, "We started with a high-quality metal wagon."
Then, a timelapse video of Ally and Circulation Clerk Katylyn assembling the wagon. They use a drill to assemble shelves on top of the metal wagon.
The captions read, "Then, we added two sides of wooden shelves. We used our community’s saws, drills and sanders to create the wagon."
Then, a timelapse of Ally, Katylyn and Circulation Page Briny spraypainting the wagon purple. It's a nice day outside, with clouds moving quickly through the sky.
The captions read, "Then came the painting, and we opted for purple spray paint! To see the final wagon, come visit us at our booth at Ithacafest!"

Your Library is closed today (Monday, May 25) for Memorial Day, but we'll be back open tomorrow, which means we'll be back at work getting ready for Summer Reading 2026: Unearth a Story!
Come get a sneak preview of the fun when TCPL marches in the Ithaca Festival Parade this coming Thursday!
And oh yeah, we'll have Thesaurus Rex (and friends) there. Come see us!
Back in November, we asked people to share their memories and favorite things about your Library as we celebrate 25 years of our location on East Green Street. This week, we're hearing from Beth - who was a patron when this was recorded, but is now one of the newest members of the TCPL Board of Trustees.
What's your favorite library memory?

We recommend planting the corn NOW

surround each corn plant with 4 bean seeds.
Also plant 2 squash plants at this time, 1-2' away from your corn/beans as your space allows.
Or do what works!
Hit me up for more details if needed, our recommended planting layout is slide 2.
Thank u @kristinleigh.art for all the papier mache sculpture lessons. we are now hauling it around to anywhere that has room!

Librarian Judd is back with a new installment of Shelf Control, where he talks about the books catching his eye as our book selectors and technical services teams work to add thousands of books to our shelves. In this installment, it's a knightly theme with works by George R.R. Martin, T.H. White, and Becky Chambers. You can browse our entire catalog at tcpl.org. There you'll also find a way to put a hold on something that interests you, and pick it up when it's convenient for your schedule.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
View profiles and photos anonymously with ease using the Private Profile Viewer.
This free tool allows you to view Instagram Stories anonymously, ensuring your activity remains hidden from the story uploader.
