The algorithm knows many of us are feeling lonely and craving connection. Some young men are feeling this particularly hard.

The algorithm exploits that vulnerability by feeding boys & men content from creators that claim to be able to to “fix” the emptiness they feel. And, in many cases, it offers a simple explanation for this isolation and disenfranchisement: blame women and feminism.

This isn’t just a theory arising from moral panic. There’s a growing body of research which explores the link between algorithms and misogynistic content.

We investigate that in this week’s newsletter, which you can sign up to receive at the link in our bio ⬆️

Today we’re launching the #FixOurFeeds campaign.

Teach Us Consent is calling on the Australian Government to introduce a world-leading opt-in feature for social media algorithms. This will bring affirmative, informed consent to our digital lives by giving us real control: algorithm-free feeds by default, with the ability to opt in, or out, at any time.

Why? Because across Australia, young men and boys are being systemically radicalised online through a constant feed of harmful misogynistic content. And it’s directly contributing to the nation’s worsening crisis of gender-based violence.

Most young men are not looking for anti-feminist content, but the invisible code behind our screens seems determined to make sure it finds them. Victims of s*xual assault and harassment deserve better. Young men being targeted and led down these spurious rabbit holes deserve better too.

Read and sign our open letter to the Prime Minister on our website. Link in bio.

Have you heard of ‘spectatorship’ during s*x?In this ep we chat about some of the reasons this might happen.

One is that p*rn is literally a performance - it's entertainment. When we try a stick to scripts we see online and emulate the structure or characters, we can be doing ourselves a massive disservice.

Performance anxiety is a very normal part of s*x and intimacy, but p*rn could be making it worse. The best way to get out of your head? Name it, check-in, talk to your partner and break the script.

We unpack all this and more in the pod this week, listen to the full chat via the link in bio or search Teach Us Consent wherever you get your podcasts 🎧

We all like to think of ourselves as good people, but we’re all capable of making mistakes or hurting people.

Taking accountability means acknowledging that you’ve caused hurt - even if you didn’t mean to - and committing to not repeating the same behaviour.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
