Join us for two sets of dancing at our inaugural Swing Dance with Matt Munisteri's TEMPO All-Stars featuring Tamar Korn.
Guitarist, singer and bandleader Matt Munisteri has assembled a crack team of seasoned NYC/Hudson Valley All-Stars in Swing. The members of this special 8-piece band have had long associations with Catherine Russell, Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks, and worked with OGs like Benny Goodman, Buck Clayton and Tony Bennett.
They will be augmented by a special guest vocalist, the always engaging and “beyond category” Tamar Korn, and along with Matt the band will feature: Jon Kellso (trumpet); Mark Shane (piano); Harvey Tibbs (trombone); Tom Abbott (sax/clarinet); Sean Cronin (bass); and Rich Levinson (drums).
The band will fill the rafters with everything from 1920’s New Orleans traditional Jazz, to 1930’s and 40’s swinging favorites, as Tempo’s brand new dance floor receives its christening from your Happy Feet!
Friday, May 22 in the TEMPO Concert Hall
7 PM - Free dance class with Emily Vail!
8 PM - Two sets of dancing in the big hall on our new professionally sprung dance floor!
Matt Munisteri is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter hailed as one of “New York’s finest vintage guitar stylists” (Downbeat Magazine), and a player with a reputation as a genuine virtuoso of American guitar styles, Matt routinely works with a wide range of artists, from folk and Bluegrass, to mainstream jazz and even the avant-garde.
Tamar Korn is one of NYC’s unsung musical heroes for the past quarter-century and a Brooklyn Folk Fest favorite. The southern California-born Korn is known for singing early jazz and roots music. NY Times has praised her “smartly mewling” singing.
Emily Vail, Founder & Managing Director of Uptown Swing and Artistic Director of the Uptown Lowdown, is a social Lindy hop/vintage jazz dancer, organizer, DJ, and choreographer. Emily directs the Uptown Lowdown vintage jazz dance troupe.

This just finished up...Step inside the creative process as a living score begins to take shape.
On April 30, composer and vocalist Kelli Scarr invites a small audience into the rehearsal room for an open session with members of the band Moonraker, whose last concert took place more than two decades ago. This intimate gathering offers a rare glimpse into the collaborative practice that underlies the Greater Mysteries project.
Part rehearsal, part listening ritual, the evening allows participants to witness the early stages of musical emergence—when fragments, improvisations, and shared intuition begin to form the seeds of a performance.
These musical ideas will continue to evolve and ultimately bloom the following night at Opus 40, where the ensemble will perform a fully realized improvised living score within Harvey Fite’s monumental stone landscape.
For those curious about how music grows, from first impulse to collective expression, this offering opens the door to the quiet, generative moment before the threshold is crossed.
Please register in advance so we can prepare the space. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the door.
This offering is part of the Lesser Mysteries spring cycle within the Greater Mysteries project — an ongoing seasonal exploration of the sacred cycles of life, death, and rebirth through the timeless arts of music, myth, and ritual.
COLLABORATORS
Come one, come all and learn how to sing for the wind and the waves! Join in maritime songs of ol' at a group sing along led by Alex Harvey and Shinbone Alley.
Alex Harvey is an old-world folklorist who performs street ballads and songs of the sea in a musical project Shinbone Alley. At his performances, listeners learn to celebrate the haunting intercultural exchange of 18th and 19th century maritime music whose ingredients travelled from the furthest corners of the globe to be remade and stitched anew by sailors of every shade and shape at port and at sea. By teaching the audience to join in on most of the tunes in his gatherings, Harvey and his Shinbone Alley build bridges of time through communal singing. From Sea Shanties to Broadsheet ballads to Come-All-Ye’s to Last Good Nights to Hard Luck Satires to Brothel Boleros to Lovesick Dirges and Whaling Serenades – this music was meant as the earliest form of group therapy. And so it is again – a sepia-toned balm for our topsy-turvy time.
Guest song-leaders who perform in rotation with Shinbone Alley include luminaries such as Aldo Lavaggi, Jordan Shapiro, Alan Short, The Johnson Girls, Jerry Bryant and many more.
$15 suggested donation at the door.
Event is in Tempo Lounge. Enter the building through the side door on Hunter St.
All donations support Tempo Kingston, a project of Kingston Music Initiative (KMI).

Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
