Dan Silver
So-called writer/director
I edit and produce things too

I’m beyond stoked and honored to announce that “A Beat to Rest” will be having its world premiere with @shortoftheweek on April 2nd! Mark your calendars!
While this film was the most challenging things I’ve ever done, it was also the most special and sentimental. Getting to direct my drum teacher, Luther Rix, who I’ve known since I was 6, is something I’ll cherish forever. For someone who has never acted before and did this “for fun,” I’ll always be in awe of the vulnerability and emotionality he gave to this role.
Thank you to the rest of the cast and the entire crew. You can’t make a film alone and I’m so thankful to every single one of you for helping me bring this story to life.
I’m stoked for this film to enter the world. See you all on April 2nd!

“Remember to Breathe” - Scene I
Super excited to share the first video in a series of videos I made to promote the powers of breathing. Something so simple and thoughtless, yet anything but. Personally, learning how to breathe mindfully and properly through my belly and not my shoulders/chest, has changed my life. As someone who struggles every single day with anxiety, depression, and OCD, breathing has without a doubt been the number one tool in my pocket for battling these issues, and pushing past them. I hope this video (and the ones that follow) serve as a good reminder to everyone that breathing is a wonderful tool for getting through the toughest times. Please, please please, share this and get the word around, and if you want more info on breathing, or just need someone to chat with, feel free to reach out!

I’m beyond stoked to finally release this child of mine with the world. This film is an exploration of what my anxiety and intrusive thoughts feel like. Invisible illnesses like anxiety, depression, and OCD, are so hard to properly explain to someone who’s never experienced them; so I wanted to explore that in a visual and tangible experience that I believe is what film, as an art form and storytelling tool, achieves best.
A HUGE shoutout to everyone tagged below who helped make this film happen. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to make a film with and I’m so proud of what we accomplished.

It’s an absolute dream and an honor to have “A Beat to Rest” be featured by DIRECTORS’ LIBRARY (@directorslibrary). You can check it out on directorslibrary.com #directorslibrary↗
The love given to this release so far has been tremendous and I’m beyond thankful and humbled. Making a film is hard, but getting it seen seems even harder. Your engagement and support mean everything. Keep supporting art you resonate with. It makes the world a better place.

“This is a very special story about aging, slowing down, and looking back on one’s life, and so it was important that the visuals took their time, moved methodically, and had an air of nostalgia to them. This is also a very personal film to me. It was inspired by both my late grandfather and stars my first drum teacher, the legendary Luther Rix, who I met when I was 5 years old and still call my friend to this day. This was his first time acting and I knew the special moments we were going to capture needed to be filmed in an equally special way. Film stocks render reality in such an honest way that’s hard to put words to. It feels so tangible and alive. Our modern world is all about new, perfect, fast, better, artificial, more. It’s exhausting and suffocating, especially as an artist. Celluloid is such a breath of fresh air and is more aligned with how I like to create and what looks best to my eye. Shooting film forces you to think, to be intentional, to appreciate and honor the limited materials you have. Plus, the organic, timeless look of 16mm 500T 1729 fit the themes and energy of this project perfectly. So yeah, I love film. A lot.
A special shout-out and thank you to the late Tony Landano who helped make this film possible. Rest in peace, Tony.” - Dan Silver

Today is the world premiere of “A Beat to Rest” on @shortoftheweek (LINK IN BIO)
I’m so excited to share this film with all of you. It’s probably the most subtle, grounded, and normal film I’ve ever made. But it’s also the most sentimental. It is dedicated to my late grandfather, who inspired me to start playing the drums in the first place. He ultimately had to stop drumming at age 90 because he couldn’t physically keep doing it. Watching the heartbreak of him having to stop what he loved doing and what that meant to his sense of self inspired this story. The film also stars my first drum teacher, Luther Rix, who also had a huge impact on my life. We met when I was 6 years old and I practically grew up with him. Getting to collaborate on a film together was incredible. For someone who’s never acted before, I will forever be in awe of the dedication and vulnerability he gave to his performance. I couldn’t have made this film without him.
Thank you to the incredible cast and crew for their hard work and dedication in helping me tell this story. And thank you to my wonderful friends who supported and carried me through this journey. I’m so appreciative of every single one of you.

New music video out now! “Pavane” by MIZU. Really excited about this one. My first time doing a “dance” film. A kind of experiment of sorts to challenge myself with this medium and see how I could translate an emotional journey through abstract visuals and improvisational dance.
Thank you so much to MIZU for writing such beautiful music that was so easy to dream up visuals to and for entrusting me with her baby. Thank you to Lili for getting practically naked in the cold, taking all my crazy ideas and seamlessly translating them to dance, and just being so damn talented. And thank you to the rest of the crew for helping make this film come to life.
You can watch the full filmon Mizu’s YouTube, my vimeo/website, and on Beyond the Short. I hope you enjoy it!

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
