The Gallow Gate
Now off-site.
Current project: Delineate, an artist book project w/ Kayus Bankole & Tiffany Boyle
Parent: @manystudios
Curator: @nataliamaria_p

New publication (mini newspaper)
A forgotten number of years ago, Many Studios (The Gallow Gate) was supported to curate Ndidi Dike's first solo exhibition in Scotland for GI2020. Then the world turned upside down and then kept flipping until eventually we decided to have a chat and put it on paper along with some work in progress (including a conversation with gardener and artist Joyce Woodcock).
We've also commissioned two other artists, Raisa Kabir and Lucille Junkere, to write new work around the themes of the exhibition, originally titled Hushed.
The publication, designed by Manuel Fernández Rodríguez, is now available to download online or to hold in real life. If you'd like a copy, please email Natalia at natalia@manystudios.co.uk. She is still checking this email albeit a bit intermittently! Happy hols ⭐️🍃

In 2019, we invited Nat Akinyi(@nat.akinyi) to create a solo exhibition of new works in Glasgow. The original exhibition was site-specific, re-creating a scene within the gallery. It took us quite a long time to figure out how to present this work in a pandemic, taking care to ourselves and the work. You can now view ‘For Good or Ill’ via our website, a digital exhibition of new works presented in collaboration with coder, Abdulkadir Awel.
A new body of work was created between 2020-21, inspired by conversations with Nat’s aunt and grandmother, recalling their experiences of the professional workplace in Kenya during and post colonialism.
The exhibition can only be viewed on computers or tablets to preserve the quality of the image and encourage engagement with the artworks. The website will be live until 9 July 2021.
This project has been supported by the National Lottery through @creativescots and in collaboration with @codeyourfuture_
For Good or Ill will be the last exhibition at @thegallowgate. Following this show, we will present two other projects over the next 6 months to conclude the programme. Thanks to everyone for their support and engagement with this programme.

Nat’s Window, by @nat.akinyi, is currently showing at @thegallowgate @manystudios, viewable from outside the gallery at 3 Ross Street G1 5AR. More info is available at the link in our bio. The work will show until 5pm today, Tuesday and Wednesday this week (and Monday to Friday 10-3pm thereafter, unless otherwise specified), we hope you can catch it on your walk.

We invited Nat Akinyi to present a solo exhibition at @thegallowgate (at @manystudios) in 2020. Installing an exhibition in the gallery hasn't been possible but I'm delighted to present one of these commissioned works physically in the gallery, viewable from outside on Ross Street.
.
You can view 'Nat's Window' from Monday 11 January. Come by on your walk! For opening times please visit www.thegallowgate.art/natakinyi

Repost • @too_gallus : No activism without action.
This week we are establishing the Black Scottish Business Fund, a fund designed to help give young local creatives, entrepreneurs and business owners much needed grants to move their businesses forwards and realise their dreams, whether it be equipment, vital learning or simply a cash injection so they can focus on their goal full time.
We will be launching this week with T-shirts, tote bags and our BLM chain pendant.
Link in bio (@too_gallus ) for donations.

Lets keep questioning the usefulness of instagrammable moments and the idea of creating a template/allocated time to ‘support’ anti-racist systems (in the vein of Black History Month for example) and make sure we are mostly listening, mostly giving resources (money ideally), and having the conversations in real life that we need to be having, everyday. There’s a link in our bio to this resource ↑
we came across the doc via @myriam.mouflih and beyond reading and donating you can express interest in joining a group for fellow white people working in arts organisations in Scotland organised by @mollymaewhawell. In Molly’s words the group is to hold each other accountable for the work we need to do, to co-educate, challenge one another and share tactics for inciting change in how we work and how our organisations work.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
