I really could't have asked for any more from the players, staff, tech or sound crew @dirkovereem75and @tomgelissen even under the craziest pressure and I was so well looked after.

Another massive thank you to my brilliant arrangement team. The gig couldn't have happened without you. So, @abadviolin @magdagiannikou @tomtrappmusic @jochenneuffer and @damianopascarellithank you all for your hard work and thanks for dealing with me being a demanding boss. haha!

Finally a huge thanks to my artistic producer on this project @fididarius months of work went into this and you were there to help every step of the way.

I made so many new friends and felt a real connection with the orchestra. I hope I can come back soon!

A few months back I conducted the Hanza Jazz Symphony orchestra in Groningen, in the Netherlands. We played a tune called Gretel by @snarkypuppy
I’d always wanted to conduct this tune and after a week on this piece and a bunch of others the young players absolutely smashed it and I couldn’t have been prouder of them. 100% vibes.

In January I was honoured to see the truly remarkable @yasu.percussion give the world premier of my new percussion concerto at the @rncmlive International festival of brass along side the ever slamming @blackdykeband conducted by @drnickchilds

Yasu is a Buddhist monk and memorised my entire (insanely difficult) concerto by meditating on it. What an absolute legend. His playing tore the room to pieces with its poise, elegance and energy. Thanks, my friend.

Life had the loudness turned down a little after that and I’ve chased that feeling in my career ever since.

I didn’t know 10 years ago that my concert opening Overture would have 40,000,000 views, that I would have worked on so many incredible records, and with so many mind blowing artists and conducted so many orchestras around the world. So I’m humbled and full of gratitude. Big up my fellow music nerds @willharvey1 @cestratheportal and @jordanfish86 who helped to make it all possible, and without whom I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.

For the 30th celebration of the Amsterdam Dance Event, marking a 10 years of collaboration, the Metropole Orkest and Melkweg are once again teaming up to host one of the opening concerts. For this special anniversary, the orchestra conducted by Simon Dobson, will be joined by visionary producer, artist and cultural architect Kybba.

Tickets will go on sale on 20 April at 10:00 CEST via Ticketmaster. 🚨
