Short fantasia I put together with three sections. It opens with a Jason Becker-inspired arpeggio sequence using his wrist roll technique that I recently figured out how to do. The middle section is a sequence of neoclassical chords, blending figured bassline thinking with somewhat of a jazz mindset. The final clean section combines late Baroque fantasia style progressions with romantic era and jazz harmonies, and some appoggiaturas. I also squeezed in the so-called "whole-tone chord" a couple times at the end, which is a romantic era modulation tool I've been experimenting with.

"Even See" by @the.gleamers, out now. Thrilled to have produced, mixed, and mastered this EP. These songs were crafted with so much special care by everyone involved.

Special s/o to my longtime friend @zechster55 who had the vision and leadership to put this together, and brought so much of his own talent and the talents of others together into making this happen. S/o @Danielleecarlton. Daniel has a very special natural gift for hearing amazing, catchy, intricate, balanced, and tasteful riffs, and if there was ever a taste decision in question while making this record, deferring to Daniel's taste was always a slam dunk.

Drums were played by @96alexandervilla who delivered the goods and gave the record a unique character. Drums were recorded by @paulroessler at @kittenrobotstudio. It was so cool to meet and hang with Paul, who was a friend of my favorite punk band The Germs. Had a blast watching him work, hearing stories about Darby Crash, and hearing about the ways he's challenged himself such as in writing modern classical music.

Spent the last 2 days mixing music in #dolbyatmos at @astrecollective's Atmosphere Studios in Beverly Hills. I had the privilege of participating in an invaluable Atmos mixing mentorship program with them where we dove deep into the Atmos mixing techniques and philosophies developed by the late, legendary mixer Mike Miller (Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, SZA, and many more), as well as all the ins and outs of mixing in Dolby Atmos.

Massive shout-out to Brad Lauchert (@trackedbybrad)—an incredible engineer and teacher who is generous in sharing his wealth of knowledge, expertise, and experience, patient in answering all my questions, and a blast to hang and work with.

Huge thanks to @candacekendall for hosting at Astre's beautiful facility and opening my ears to the potential of this medium. Her openness to spreading knowledge, sharing skills, and connecting people is a reflection of the culture I love most about LA.

Inspired and looking forward to doing more Atmos mixes in 2025 at Atmosphere Studios.

Sharing my arrangement of Mozart's Quintet in G Minor K. 516: II, for the electric guitar.

In Mozart's time it was customary for solo instruments to decorate repeats and add improvisational ornaments built from the figured bass reduction. With a real quintet it's much harder to get away with this, and so all the string players on every recording I've heard of this piece stick to what's on the page. Since I put this on a single instrument I took some liberty to utilize some ornamental tools of the time to spice up the repeats, such as octave displacements, diminutions, and writing a few new phrases sticking to the figures.

I have been totally obsessed with Mozart for years now, so I'm happy to share some of what I've been studying. Thanks for listening.

Lacrimosa by Mozart from his Requiem. Been studying this piece recently and figured why not post myself playing through it on my electric guitar? Apparently Mozart only wrote the first 8 bars of this on his death bed and the rest of the piece was completed by his student Franz Xaver Süssmayr. I took a few liberties since this isn't a guitar piece and added some lil decorations here and there.
