Submerged in a forest of speakers, audiences are invited to enter an intimate sonic environment where the act of listening becomes both shared and estranged. 𝘛𝘏𝘌 𝘘𝘜𝘐𝘌𝘛𝘌𝘙 𝘠𝘖𝘜 𝘉𝘌𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘌 is an electro-acoustic sound performance that unfolds through first, second, and third-person perspectives of auditory perception – immersing listeners in the psychological terrain of how others hear.
Developed in consultation with musicians experiencing symptoms of hearing conditions, this work encourages deep, embodied listening. Can we truly trust our own senses? What is the difference between hearing and listening? And how might hearing through another’s ears attune us more acutely to the world around us?

Jannah Quill has been making experimental electronic music and systems based audio visual installation and sound art for over a decade. Her sound is shaped at the intersection of computer music and modular synthesis, combining complex and considered rhythm making with synthesiser experimentation.

Tilman Robinson.
Tilman Robinson is a composer, producer and sound designer. He creates dark ambient and maximalist electro-acoustic music drawing from a wide musical palette. Tilman’s diverse output focuses on the psychological impact of dense sound incorporating acousmatics and psychoacoustic principles. His music ranges from drone heavy ambient meditations, to pointillistic flurries of electronically altered acoustic sound, to rich immersive field recordings.

At the centre of Janenne Willis’ Deep Sound is a richly textured sound world that listens with sea. This world has been co-created with composer Tilman Robinson (Naarm based), and features Uncle Lionel Lauch (Gunditjmara Kirrae Wurrung-Bundjalung double saltwater man).
