What does it mean to be a keystone species?
It means to hold communities together,
to collaborate with natural systems.
It means to help shape, maintain and support biodiversity.
We take on the role of assisting life to flourish.
Embodied Ecology was born from this remembering.
Our lead facilitator, @timogranzotti speaks to this at TEDx URI - on the legacy we are capable of leaving.
In two weeks, we gather on living land for an immersion in regeneration - of landscapes, and of how we meet them.
Over these days, we will work with soil and agroecology, explore living systems and patterns, and engage embodied practices that support nervous system regulation, perception, and relationship.
No prior experience is needed, only curiosity and a willingness to arrive.
We begin Feb 10 in Byron Hinterland.

To all my plant people, what does a cat, an insect and an herb all share in everyday communication? The smell of sex.
The natural world is speaking to us at every moment. There are infinite networks and relationships that exist, surrounding us, inspiring us. Come spend some days with me on February 10, in Byron Hinterland, Australia, to dive deeper, both internally and externally, to understand how we can be pollinators that support these natural processes, and how we belong to them. Through discourses, storytelling, hand-on skills, body movement, creative writing, we will unpack regenerative food systems in a way that hasn’t been done before.

Embodied Ecology, is an Agroforestry Immersion, though in its essence it’s 6-days of re-aligning with the natural world and ourselves.

It all starts with the soil. Understanding how to provide the right conditions for life to flourish is one of the greatest lessons for us all. It comes from the microscopic universe that serves as the foundation for all life, with which we interact everyday with our feet, our hands.
In the Amazon Rainforest, there are very particular conditions that support the immense variety of life. When those conditions are changed, when trees are cut down, the soil can quickly become depleted and lifeless. This is the story of how hybridised systems of agroforestry can bring life back and support a thriving, fruitful system once again.

In partnership with @pploftheforest the Yawanawá are introducing an agroforestry project that is a hybridization of indigenous planting practices with new innovations in land tending, to create a replicable model of food sustainability amidst numerous threats to the locals food sources.

Reforest Films is documenting the project, while supporting 16 year old Vinnya Yawanawá’s filmmaking through mentorship and equipment so he can tell the story of his people through his lens.

When I’m not deep in music or carving, I’m immersed in ecology and whole system’s design, working with bipoc and indigenous NGO’s, helping train the next generation of facilitators, activists and stewards, those at the front lines of social and environmental justice. You’ll find me consulting and designing landscapes for clients, working towards a common goal: resilient communities, food sovereignty, land back, and regenerative ecosystems.
