Together we were able to raise 2,932.95 in direct funds that went to families fighting the incarceration of their loved ones by ICE. Including donations that went directly to folks gofundme's from yall, we helped raise an approximate total of 3,579.95!
Thank you to everyone who came out, shared the event, danced and supported! It was a night rooted in the beauty that happens when we unite together against this imperialist, colonial and violent country. Thank you to team Touching Infinite, this wouldn't of been possible without y'all.
While legal fees, court fees, and money doesn't free people, it does help families get one step closer to the access required to free their loved ones. When we look at incarceration as not a product of morality or legality, but as a result of lack of access and targeted state violence, we can start to understand why it happens to begin with, and what we need to do to stop it.
We are living in times of increasing facism, increasing political repression, and seeing our community once again, used as poltical pawns. If you are black or brown in this country and you are poor or working class, you need to be building interdependence. No politician, party or candidate will save you. What are you willing to do to keep your loved ones safe? What skills do you have to share with your neighbors? What can you do right now to commit your life to fighting facism? Figure that out, then repeat it again and again, until we're all free.
This last week, our friends in Prairieland who organized a noise demonstration last year to protest ICE, were prosecuted, for the simple act of protesting. Please support them. Their struggle is our struggle, their incarceration is a threat to all of us who wish to see our families free from ICE, communites free of violence, our world free of facism.
