If you are going to do an off-site as a remote-first business make it matter.

We spent an incredible 48hrs as a team in Amsterdam doing the following:

-Experiencing life on a houseboat and the expansive thinking that comes with being on water.

-Really getting to know each other and opening up, including being vulnerable about what our past work experiences have instilled in us (good and bad) and supporting each other to move past them.

-Bring truthful about what we really need from each other to succeed that we get and don't get currently.

-Reflecting on the first half of the year and really unpacking where we stand, what we should be excited and proud of and where we need to zone in and focus.

-Workshopping our personal barriers to "awkward" facts of small agency growth like actively tapping into our networks, putting our personal brands out there and building relationships outside our comfort zones.

-Unleashing our curiosity by learning more about a different culture through incredible human storytelling thanks to @whoisamsterdamtours

Oh and of course having loads of fun exploring Amsterdam nightlife!

Amazing to hear great feedback from our team and a great reminder of the impact of investing in colleague engagement (which is what we talk about every day to clients!)

Yesterday we announced some big exciting news! We are so delighted to be welcoming our new Strategy Director, Mark Ivan to our international team at TheTruthWorks.

For anyone who knows Mark Ivan on LinkedIn or IRL you'll know he is a fearlesss truth-teller, a champion for equitable employee experiences and a positive force for change in the workplace.

He is a great match for our vision and values as a business but we also look forward to him challenging us positively and helping us confront our own biases as we go.

Mark Ivan is Berlin-based and has contributed to the organisational cultures of Bitly, Zalando, GetYourGuide and the Museum of African Diasporan Arts. He has over 15 years hands-on experience in strategic marketing communications, employee representation and the empowerment of marginalized groups within organisations.

His expertise is backed by a masters in Management of Creative Business Processes from Copenhagen Business School.

He is driven by the conviction that positive and profitable workplace experiences are possible for everyone.

It's the week of International Women's Day and we've been thinking a lot about the culture we are shaping here at @thetruthworksco along with our colleagues and collaborators.

We try not to put the women we work with in boxes or define their needs for starters.

Some of us are mothers, some are not. Some of us bring a lot of emotion into our work, some don't. Some of us are nurturing, others more direct. Some want to smash every glass ceiling around, others want to find a balance that puts other priorities first.

It's important to have a day that recognises what we uniquely bring as women and that our needs and barriers may be greater in the workplace.

But it's also essential to acknowledge that we will never fit any stereotypes that are assigned to us.

Here's to shaping workplaces that recognise, support and go out on a limb for EVERY woman.

What we do know is that our contributions are exceptional when we have the right environment to succeed.

We also know that we can lift much heavier weights than people expect we can.
