FOLLOW THE BEAT 🔥

So last week I shaved my beard and I was reminded of 12 years ago how I looked when I was fighting to keep a dream alive.

Training at my university’s Gymnastics Club, they shut us down because we weren’t following “Gymnastics guidelines” But without a coach what were we suppose to do? Majority of us weren’t gymnasts either—we were martial artists, trickers, breakers, or parkour athletes with nowhere else to go.

So I stepped up to build a curriculum after a year of us training on the grass, and we finally reopened our club as the Martial Arts Tricking Club.

That’s when I learned: You don’t need a facility as much as you need a SYSTEM that works and supports you.

🕷️ That’s why everything I built since then has led to Spider Martial Arts, a stunt team with a capoeira/parkour hybrid training system where we train fight choreography, martial arts tricks, and tag! 🕸️

Even funnier, I realized after I made the SMA motto STICK TO THE BEAT that it marks a continuity to this videos title FOLLOW THE BEAT.

Hey y’all some of you may remember a few years ago I launched a Capoeira 101 online course. Well it just got even better, I have revamped the course in collaboration with @capoeiramasterclass @mestre_amen_santo_ to bring you a new experience on the Might Networks app! Link in my bio.

This is a 16 episode course that comes with weekly office hours and 24 hour support. The course will soon include a growing catalogue of my episodes as well as courses from other amazing Capoeiristas with well springs of knowledge in not just the martial art element of Capoeira, but also in its music, language, and culture.

Capoeira is a lot about connection, and my course will help you to lock in basic coordination, strength, and flexibility required for other courses on Capoeira Master Class.

I had two hours to play at the last LA meet up in between shooting film projects. I’ve met so many awesome and talented people doing these! As the big budget calls start to come in it’s starting to feel bitter sweet because I want to keep doing these!
