“During my time as a paediatric nurse, I’ve learned something that stays with me every day: children don’t care about your title, your experience, or your accomplishments. What matters to them is to feel safe, seen and understood. They need to know they can trust you, especially when they’re at their most vulnerable. That emotional comfort can positively influence how they respond to treatment and even how quickly they recover.”

On International Nurses' Day, Ruby Frances Caldito (pictured), deputy sister, Paediatric ENT Outpatients Department shares her beautiful artwork, ‘Healing Begins with Kindness’, inspired by this year's theme, ‘Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives’.

Thank you for your dedication to our patients and to each other.

UCLH patient Tim Wiberg, 61, of Sheffield, is the third patient with amyloidosis in Europe to receive CAR T-cell therapy under clinical trial conditions in a bid to find whether immunotherapy may hold some answers for this patient group.

Tim was diagnosed two years ago but is still coming to terms with his condition. A diagnosis like this takes time to sink in. I’m not sure I’ve fully come to terms with it even now. It’s a life-changing disease.” After six months of weekly chemotherapy only managed to produce a partial response, he was offered the chance to take part in ALARIC.

“The standard treatment had only gone so far, and it felt as though the options were beginning to narrow,” he said. “This trial offered something different — a new and innovative way of tackling the disease. Yes, there are risks, but there is also hope. Being offered a place made me feel far more positive.

“It feels like a genuine opportunity, not just for me, but for others who may face this diagnosis in the future. If my experience can help move things forward, then it feels worth sharing.”

Tim received his CAR T cells on 2 March and is currently recovering at home.

Of the experience, he said: “I was in hospital for two weeks and I can honestly say the hardest part was being woken up every few hours for nurses to get my vitals. But they were absolutely wonderful, I cannot fault the care.

“Amyloidosis is mainly measured by the prevalence of some bad proteins called lambda light chains. At my worst, before any treatment, I had around 200. And after the infusion, they are now almost immeasurable. So that really says it all.”

If successful, CAR T-cell therapy could offer patients a single treatment with a high and lasting response rate. By suppressing the abnormal cells at their source, it may also give damaged organs a better chance to recover.

Some patients with bowel cancer treated with immunotherapy before surgery instead of post-op chemotherapy have remained cancer-free after almost three years of follow-up, according to new results from the NEOPRISM-CRC clinical trial led by UCL and UCLH.

The latest findings, presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2026 yesterday, build on earlier results showing that nine weeks of pre-operative immunotherapy using the drug pembrolizumab led to major tumour shrinkage in patients with stage two or three bowel cancer.

Initial results indicated that 59% of patients had no signs of disease after treatment with pembrolizumab and their planned bowel cancer operation.

Now 33 months later, none of the treated patients have experienced a return of their cancer. This includes those who had no signs of cancer after treatment and those who still had small amounts remaining, which did not grow or spread during follow-up.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
