この度SHINTORA PRESS(新虎プレス)では、第一回企画展として、繊細な点描や独特なカリグラフィーが世界的に評価されているアーティストUSUGROW(薄黒)の個展を開催致します。
今展示では、「ダンス」をモチーフに描いた作品を中心に、壁画、エディションプリント、ジン等を展示・販売致します。
ダンスは古来、喜怒哀楽の表現、コミュニケーションの手段、自然や神への祈りから生まれたとされ、個人間の垣根(Border)を超え人々の心を強く結びつけてきました。また、国境＝垣根(Border)は政治情勢で変わりますが、文化はその地域に強く根ざし、拡がりを止めることはありません。
パンデミック、紛争、人種差別や分断、個人の孤立。生きづらいと言われる世の中において、あらためて精神や文化の大切さ、またそれらを伝播していくことの重要性を痛感しています。USUGROWの、強くエッジーでありながらプリミティブな作品群を通し、そんなことを少しでも感じて頂ければ幸いです。

📣 New Exhibition 📣
この度GASBON METABOLISMでは、USUGROW個展「踊る線、祈る線」を開催いたします。USUGROWは、ドローイングやカリグラフィを軸に、ストリートカルチャーと密接に結びついた表現を長年にわたり展開してきた作家です。1990年代初頭、アンダーグラウンド・ミュージックシーンで活動を開始し、音楽、スケートボード、アパレルなど多様なカルチャーと横断的に関わりながら、独自の制作姿勢を築いてきました。
その根底にあるのは、DIY（Do It Yourself）の精神です。既存の制度や文脈に依拠するのではなく、自らの生活や環境と折り合いをつけながら制作を続ける姿勢は、作品の在り方そのものにも強く反映されています。細密な点描によるドローイング、無国籍的な書体によるカリグラフィ、そして墨や線によるミニマルな表現は、ストリート由来の衝動と静かな精神性を内包しています。
本展では、これまでGASBON METABOLISMで展示され、多くの来場者に強い印象を残してきた大型作品《涅槃像》を中心に構成します。本作は、2024年4月にGASBON METABOLISMでの滞在制作を通して制作された、おおよそ3m×5mにおよぶ大型作品です。本展では、これまで象徴的に展示されてきたこの作品を起点とし、アーカイブ作品から未発表のライブペインティング作品といった過去作を再構成し、展開します。研ぎ澄まされた線と大きく静かな涅槃像にゆっくり向き合っていただけたら幸いです。
USUGROWの描く緊張感のある線そして余白、反復の行為が持つ時間性や身体感覚によって成り立つ作品群は、単なる鑑賞対象として完結するのではなく、制作の痕跡や思考のプロセスを内包した「行為の記録」として空間に存在します。更新され続けている表現を現在の視点から見つめ直す本展をぜひこの機会にご高覧ください。

この度GASBON METABOLISMでは、USUGROW個展「踊る線、祈る線」を開催いたします。USUGROWは、ドローイングやカリグラフィを軸に、ストリートカルチャーと密接に結びついた表現を長年にわたり展開してきた作家です。1990年代初頭、アンダーグラウンド・ミュージックシーンで活動を開始し、音楽、スケートボード、アパレルなど多様なカルチャーと横断的に関わりながら、独自の制作姿勢を築いてきました。
その根底にあるのは、DIY（Do It Yourself）の精神です。既存の制度や文脈に依拠するのではなく、自らの生活や環境と折り合いをつけながら制作を続ける姿勢は、作品の在り方そのものにも強く反映されています。細密な点描によるドローイング、無国籍的な書体によるカリグラフィ、そして墨や線によるミニマルな表現は、ストリート由来の衝動と静かな精神性を内包しています。
本展では、これまでGASBON METABOLISMで展示され、多くの来場者に強い印象を残してきた大型作品《涅槃像》を中心に構成します。本作は、2024年4月にGASBON METABOLISMでの滞在制作を通して制作された、おおよそ3m×5mにおよぶ大型作品です。本展では、これまで象徴的に展示されてきたこの作品を起点とし、アーカイブ作品から未発表のライブペインティング作品といった過去作を再構成し、展開します。研ぎ澄まされた線と大きく静かな涅槃像にゆっくり向き合っていただけたら幸いです。
USUGROWの描く緊張感のある線そして余白、反復の行為が持つ時間性や身体感覚によって成り立つ作品群は、単なる鑑賞対象として完結するのではなく、制作の痕跡や思考のプロセスを内包した「行為の記録」として空間に存在します。更新され続けている表現を現在の視点から見つめ直す本展をぜひこの機会にご高覧ください。
