Because this is brilliant - pitch perfect rom com, which is the same set up as The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds but way better.

Because this has heart, doesn't lean into crass jokes, every line has a purpose, and the performances are outstanding. Oh and made on a fraction of the budget in a fraction of the time. This is phenomenal

I've been a slow convert to @caymancardiff but worth the wait - I don't know of many others in the vertical space who have worked so hard on the craft, and he is sublime in this. Every reaction, every look, the comedy timing is spot on. But he also brings heart and tenderness, which isn't easy to do when you are very very tall. This is why in my eyes he is much better than Ryan Reynolds - he is a lot more versatile. Reynolds does one thing well, Cardiff has worked to ensure he can do a whole lot more and brings a much needed kindness to the screen.

@maggierosehudson is the perfect foil, Jenna is a tricky character to balance, she is difficult at the beginning, but thankfully this is well written enough to show it is more about a wariness of people and need for space, which a lot of us can identify with. And Hudson will devastate you at the end when she turns it all down because she thinks she doesn't deserve it. Powerhouse

And the supporting cast are all superb

@nicolocaruccio ensures Clark isn't too creepy, and may be a valid choice for Jenna

@eugabrielquintella does the best infuriating grin when trying to one up Jenna

Loved @sandiesepaniak as Brian's mum, instantly built a beautiful relationship with Jenna

Plus @darrellphilip getting to play a good guy for once (last remember him doing dastardly deeds as a Mayor)

It's all so well written - there are super lines, Brian's words about Jenna are well chosen 'she-devil' rather than b*tch, Jenna's explanation of why she has to work so hard (yes yes yes been there), and a super moment where our leads pair up to take on Clark. Thanks for that, nice to see a scenario that didn't go where I expected (Brian confronting Jenna about Clark etc)

Because this is brilliant - pitch perfect rom com, which is the same set up as The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds but way better.

Because this has heart, doesn't lean into crass jokes, every line has a purpose, and the performances are outstanding. Oh and made on a fraction of the budget in a fraction of the time. This is phenomenal

I've been a slow convert to @caymancardiff but worth the wait - I don't know of many others in the vertical space who have worked so hard on the craft, and he is sublime in this. Every reaction, every look, the comedy timing is spot on. But he also brings heart and tenderness, which isn't easy to do when you are very very tall. This is why in my eyes he is much better than Ryan Reynolds - he is a lot more versatile. Reynolds does one thing well, Cardiff has worked to ensure he can do a whole lot more and brings a much needed kindness to the screen.

I've been trying to work out and I think it is because it fell between 2 tones - if you are focusing on the connection between Victoria and Ian I wanted to get to know them more, I don't know anything beyond that she is a doctor and Ian has the singer secret heir thing going on. More conversation and moments developing the characters beyond smooching

Or if you are putting drama in with Ronan, dial that up and have more peril pulling them apart - that's when this caught my attention more, when Ian is trying to save Victoria, because then we saw emotion

I think @natewsmith_ and @chena_verony has tricky roles - they do the tentative romance beautifully, but there isn't much substance to their characters for them to dig into

In fact Ian is almost annoying at one point with his confidence, I think the character needed to be written with either more vulnerability or dial up the golden retriever energy

Basically these are 2 ridiculously attractive people and it all felt almost a bit too perfect and I am aware as I type this that I am being a bit unfair. I just think you have 2 super actors here, who if the characters had been developed a bit more would have been able to shine even brighter

There are some lovely bits - the song is beautiful and I really hope / think that is Nate singing. That works so well

And as I said @jeffviolette is such a pro, one of the best at playing this character. Would have loved to see him get into it a bit more with Ian, feel like Ronan is brushed aside too easily
