"When director @peepingjohn told me the film was called 'The History of Concrete,' I laughed because I understood it would seriously be about concrete (which would generally be considered unsaleable in an industry of flashy big-budget docs) but also that it would spiral into a much bigger conversation about things like the American relationship to quality, the environment, the film business, technology, and how we experience time."

Friends! I’m proud to have been part of this powerful and hilarious film, ZEKE - written and directed by Kerry Coddett (@overfab) and produced by @grandmas.haus.
The film stars Hassan Johnson (@hinikoj) (The Wire, Flatbush Misdemeanors), Stephen Cofield, Jr. (@stephencofieldjr) (Terrifier 3, Harlem), Sam Jay (@samjaycomic) (SNL, Pause w/ Sam Jay), and Kerry Coddett (@overfab) (Ramy, Flatbush Misdemeanors).
We had an amazing sold-out screening at the American Black Film Festival, and the response reminded us just how important stories like this are. This isn’t just a short film, it’s a conversation starter meant to challenge the viewer and encourage reflection in our communities. Making you laugh while doing so!
Now the team is launching the fundraising campaign to help take ZEKE to more screens and to continue to tell stories for us. I’m sharing because I believe in this story, in the team behind it, and in the impact it can have.

It’s hard to express how caring and joyful and weird and smart the @howtojohnwilson team was. I only got to do the last season 🥲 but the people who created and nurtured this show - I am constantly in awe of what they pulled off, what the AEs and other editors were able to do. The vision of @peepingjohn @clarkfilio @michael.koman @relterskelter @oksaywhen @gemininaim and everyone else I haven’t even met. Everyone who touched the show (besides burning man) came away feeling like a part of the magic. I will miss this show! **oh and most importantly, good work @nycmayor @madein_ny on the subway ad. 🗽
