How Perlman Practices Bow Bounces 🎻
Here’s how Itzhak Perlman practices bow bounces (via Eric Silberger): Give a slight “kick” to the first note to start the stroke, then feel the bow’s natural bounce—don’t choke it with control. Build confidence in your balancing stroke so the bow behaves like a bouncing ball: clean, even, and effortless. Try a 3-down, 1-up pattern and focus on that tiny initial impulse—the bow will do the rest.
Click the link in our bio to get started with a 14-day free trial!
In honor of @itzhakperlmanofficial's birthday, enjoy this special duo for violins, composed by PMP alum Eric Silberger, and performed last weekend by Sean @seanleeviolin and Eric @violindragon
Tension-Free REACH 🧩
Don’t yank for wide intervals—unhook + tiny hand pivot lets the 1st finger go all the way out with control and clean intonation.

Playing Bach in an Alaskan Glacier on a Sustainable Flax Fiber Violin!
Performing in the heart of the Icelandic volcano Thrihnukagigur, I felt the sound reverberate, almost as if the earth itself were playing along. Thus began my mission to explore the unknown and boldly go where no violinist has gone before.
Journeying across a frozen river in the Alaskan Wilderness, the sun began to rise with the crunch of icy snow beneath my boots. Walking into the mouth of the Glacial Cave, I was surrounded by 13,000 years old ice on every side while hearing the whooshing of an underground river.
My fingertips began to freeze in the frigid temperature as I took out my violin. I expected the sound to amplify inside the chamber like it had in the volcano. Each section of the ice cave was completely different, some without any echo, and others resonating with the violin.
Playing on a newly invented flax fiber violin resistant to the elements made by visionary luthier Tim Duerinck allowed me to focus entirely on the sound. My friend @manamusichawaii commissioned the first ever quartet of these amazing instruments. As I forgot about the freezing temperature, the gentle rumble of the underground river became clear, the acoustics of the cave inspired me to hear Bach in a way I never imagined, as if hearing the music for the first time.
