The @westbethgallery is thrilled to welcome back the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University with the exhibition:

Rutgers in New York: Spin-out

Featuring work by Shiva Addanki, Emma Berry, Jules Gårder, Nilo Goldfarb, Terrell Halsey, Andrew Jarman, Graham Krenz, Nate Millstein, Jake Paron, and Ana Rucker.

Reception: Saturday May 30, 6–8pm

Westbeth Gallery
55 Bethune St
New York, NY 10014
Hours: Wednesday–Sunday, 1–6pm; Closed Monday, Tuesday

The thesis exhibition is often regarded as a culmination. This notion does not quite land here. It is too neat, too resolved. Spin-out is a group exhibition that comes after it, serving as a threshold that opens onto something that keeps spinning as we try to step into it. This show feels like a handoff many of us know, into conditions that are turbulent and shaking, quite violently, beneath our feet.

So, the works appear in dispersals and slight disjunctions. No unified statement or theme, just a show of relations that should not fully cohere. Spin-out exhibits a set of recurring relations: tension, nerve, occasional alignment on the fantasy of an optimized self. A self that is constructed again and again, deliberated upon, and sometimes consumed.

Repeated image-making, printing, painting, and twisting of clay demonstrate a sustained inquiry that transfigures infrastructure into ornament and body, hair, and text into social registers. The exhibition places a found children’s toy on a journey with an insatiable coyote who points to a burial ground. Here and onward, the artist-sitter and critter relationship is unsettled while collectivity and action flicker across a bent but continuous wall.

Spin-out gathers a collection of works with no singular trajectory. Instead, the exhibition circles a kind of convivial core catalyzed by ten artists.

RU Workshop: @pinch.of.us — A transcultural dumpling-making workshop

📅 Saturday, May 17, 2026 | 3:00 PM
📍 Westbeth Gallery, 55 Bethune Street, New York, NY 10014

Limited spots available. 🔗RSVP required and learn more from the link in bio!

Join Asia Sztencel (@asia_sztencel) (2017, 2020 RU Alum) and Vu Thien An Nguyen (@av0cuddl3)(RU/NYCBAR 2026 Curatorial Assistant), and LuLu Meng (@lulumeng.space) (2015 RU alum) for this hands-on and family-friendly workshop. Fold dumplings, share stories, and enjoy an afternoon of making, tasting & connecting—from domestic ritual into collective art experience.

Rooted in LuLu’s family history and drawing from the Lunar New Year traditions of their Taiwanese upbringing, LuLu treats the dumpling not just as a symbol of prosperity, but as a vessel for the quiet intimacy and storytelling that can emerge when generations gather together to cook.

The heart of the workshop lies in the exchange between different cultures. Asia Sztencel (Poland) and Vu Thien An Nguyen (Vietnam), who will guide participants through the culinary traditions of their home countries. While the fillings and dough will be prepared in advance, the “art” begins when we work together.

LuLu invites participants to view the dumpling as a person. Just like us, dumplings come in a variety of shapes, textures, and appearances, with unique “fillings” and “flavors” inside.

This workshop does not strive for technical mastery or the need to make “perfect” dumplings. Instead, it embraces the playful and the imperfect. It is an invitation to be present and explore the “multicultural self,” what lies inside, what wraps around, and how we share this with others.

Pinch of Us @ Westbeth Gallery is generously supported by @westbethgallery and Residency Unlimited.

The broader Pinch of Us 2026 series is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts @nyscouncilonthearts with the support of the @sculpture_space in Utica.

Tonight, WORKING CONDITIONS opened @westbethgallery. A rich and interactive show.

Working Conditions
Residency Unlimited’s 2026 NYC-Based Artist-in-Residence (NYCBAR) Exhibition
Featuring 2026 NYCBAR

Artists: Catherine Chen, Ekene Ijeoma, Rehan Miskci, Jiangshengyu Nova Pan and LuLu Meng (2015 RU Alum)

Curated by Phil Zheng Cai

Opening: Tuesday April 28, 2026 | 6-8pm

On view: April 28 – May 16, 2026 | Wednesday – Sunday, 1-6pm

Location: Westbeth Gallery, 55 Bethune St, New York, NY 10014

A common screening question asked by curators and gallerists is: “Do you plan on being a professional artist for the rest of your life?” This arrogant request for proof of dedication undermines the hardship of treating art as a profession, especially in a city like New York. More often than not, artists in the City have other jobs and fi nd a balance between their art and non-art practices. To some, their “day jobs” are a soulless exchange for material cost, and to others, these occupations inspire and inform, providing for their art practices in the form of subject matters, methodologies, habits, constraints, or guidelines.
Taking its title from Hans Haacke’s collected writings, Working Conditions seeks to dissect the notion of the “artist” into two intertwined identities: the one who makes art, and the one who performs “artist” as a profession. By acknowledging their indivisibility, the project invites artists who maintain other jobs to refl ect on how those experiences inform their practice, while encouraging full-time artists to examine the relationship between their creative agency and their professional position as practitioners.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
