This May 19–23, San Diego serves as the global capital of independent arts. The World Fringe Congress 2026 is the bi-annual gathering of Fringe festival leaders from across six continents, representing a unified network of cultural innovators.

Led by @worldfringe in partnership with @sdfringe, this summit is a critical forum for cultural diplomacy, designed to fuel local economies and launch new creative voices. By connecting delegates across borders to exchange ideas and spark collaboration, the Congress shapes the future of independent arts worldwide.

At a time of global division, this gathering stands as a powerful act of connection, affirming the cultural and economic impact of the Fringe movement on the world stage and our transborder region.

I am thrilled to be attending the World Fringe Congress this year as a delegate. Every two years, festival directors from across the globe gather to talk all things fringe and solve ALL the world's problems through art (OK, I may be exaggerating a tiny bit on that last claim). I can't wait to meet everyone and take it all in.

We’re an independent organisation dedicated to the advancement, exposure, and study of fringe theatre in the theatre capital of the world!

We’ll be hosting regular events, from academic conferences to lobbying groups to meet-ups. We welcome theatre operators, producers, commentators, reviewers, performers, and anyone in the sector to join. Some of our events are specialised, so keep an eye out.

CORK FRINGE just wrapped up! Part of team STOCKHOLM FRINGE FESTIVAL (STOFF) had the amazing opportunity to head over to 🇮🇪 to experience fun fringe arts, a rather walkable city and proper ☘️ hospitality! Not to mention our peers who made their way to this lovely side of the world! 🙌

It was amazing to see how far one of our youngest WORLD FRINGE sister festivals is has come in just its 2nd year! These guys are on point! 👌

The trip was made possible thanks to the Swedish Embassy in Dublin! 🙏

Can’t wait to get back soon!
