YNW Melly's lawyer insists the rapper has experienced cruel treatment and proclaims Melly's innocence following his latest failed bond attempt.
On Thursday (May 7), attorney Drew Findling released a statement to XXL in the wake of the South Florida rapper's bond being denied again after he has spent seven years in jail fighting his double murder case.
"The Court, the State Attorney’s Office, and all who observed this bond hearing should have been deeply troubled by the clear evidence presented regarding the inhumane conditions Mr. Demons has endured for over seven years (with the last three in solitary confinement) while presumed innocent under our Constitution," the statement reads. "Yet the Court denied bond and allowed those conditions to continue without even acknowledging the shocking circumstances under which he has been forced to live."
Following Melly's latest bond hearing on May 1, Broward County, Fla., judge Martin S. Fein ruled that the rapper should stay behind bars until his retrial in January of 2027.
