In an era that favors speed, TG originates from fatigue and overlapping acts, aiming to create the right conditions for a resonant rhythm—one that trusts in time, listening, and chance encounters. @year___zero , along with its Istanbul-based radio station, @year___zero___radio , hosts a constellation of artists, musicians, and publishers who have constructed autonomous worlds driven by care, persistence, and a dedication to creation. @doyenne_books & @year___zero presents final stop of our Testing Ground events this Saturday, the 29th, at the independent venue and cultural space @bireksibireksibireksi , hosting an evening of A/V shows and short films from the label, as well as the founder, Flora Yin Wong’s, debut performance in Istanbul. Primarily incorporating traditional and early music folk instruments with granular synthesis in her live shows, @floraytw , who has previously been using a kemence over the years, will be collaborating with a local kemence player for a one-off set.

The event, conceived as an experimental divination ceremony, will feature local talents @aayrisiss and @idil_ko, who will channel this atmosphere through live performance and spoken poetry.

This Friday at @saloniksv , we are thrilled to host Kenyan vocalist, songwriter, and producer @lord_spikeheart_777 , for his first performance in Turkey. Lord Spikeheart has become one of the prominent figures in the African metal scene, cultivating a distinctive blend of guttural growls from the death metal tradition, screeching screams, and gravelly rap verses that resonate menacingly through head-banging instrumentals — a hard-hitting encapsulation of industrial, death metal, grindcore, African traditional rhythms, and club sounds. His work has gained international recognition from major platforms such as The Guardian (which named his album The Adept one of the 10 best global albums of 2024), BBC Radio, Pitchfork, Arte, Dazed, The Fader, NTS, Crack, Resident Advisor, and The Quietus.

Completing this highly energetic night are the equally explosive @frozencloudstr , who consistently amaze audiences with their energy, and @kaangolemakay , a hugely influential musician and DJ for over two decades, who released his new album in September.

Revival is not a solitary journey but a collective effort. It's about moving, observing, waiting, learning, and creating the right conditions together. We've named this series of events 'Revival' to emphasize that transformation, even if it's not linear, can come to life with a shared memory and effort.

As Year Zero Radio, we meet Sam Clarke at Şahika for the first event in our series with Transplant exhibition and DJ set. Since founding Dust Archive in 2022, Sam has brought countless names like Pessimist, E-Saggila, Puce Mary, KILBOURNE, Saint Abdullah onto the same stage on his journey from Brooklyn to London. Sam is known as the name behind the photographs, artwork, and portraits of many artists and labels, such as eartheater, Thoom, Fakethias, Heith, Phase Fatale, and Aurora Halal, as well as his own dynamic sets.
