@thatswhatxsaid is partnering again with @for_all_queens for their annual Pride Festival, this year we’re presenting a super special solo show with none other than @yema.visuals !
Opening on Thursday the 2nd of May from 6 to 9 pm at that’s what x said, this exhibition, dives into the intersectionality of queerness and the African identity. More specifically, Yema Gieskes, will look into the rituals around the Dote and African Weddings. In this exhibition she wants to explore the closeness of the Queer African with their culture when it comes to love without sacrificing neither their Queerness nor their Africaness.
Yema Gieskes is a graphic designer and visual artist based in Brussels. She explores themes such as Black Identity, Femininity, Queerness and Music. Her art and design spans across all forms of media and expression.
