More on the creative process of creating the ceramic collection for the Pop Up from @yesceramic

“This work began with considering what kind of ceramics would resonate with the Niamh Galea shop.
Drawing from spiral patterns and Renaissance architectural ornamentation, I developed sketches that hold both an inward-flowing movement and a sense of protection.

Ceramics begin with clay.
I selected materials based on the desired form and tactile quality—paper clay, grogged clay with a coarse texture, and smooth porcelain.
For example, for the torso-shaped incense holder, I chose a clay with a rough texture to contrast with the soft, curved lines of the female body.

The forms were created using both wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques.
Pinching, coiling, and hollowing were used to build each piece, with coiling playing a particularly important role, as it reveals the gradual accumulation of form. After shaping, the pieces were left to dry fully, then refined and bisque-fired.
Once fired, each piece was cleaned with water to prepare the surface, followed by painting using a combination of airbrushing and hand-painting techniques.
A clear glaze was used as a base, while in some areas glazes were layered to allow for unexpected, spontaneous results.

The pieces were then glaze-fired at 1240°C, and an additional firing at 800°C was carried out for decals and luster finishes.

In the final stage, the bases were smoothed, stamps were applied, and certain pieces were further adorned with elements such as Swarovski crystals or assembled pendants, bringing each object into balance.

I hoped to create forms in which softness and tension, exposure and protection, can exist together within a single piece.”

This special ceramic collection by Yes Ceramic will be available to shop at Niamh Galea store Sydney till the 31st May.

When I first saw Eunseo’s work I knew there was a perfect alignment and it’s very exciting to have the pieces in Australia all the way from Seoul.

채색 및 유약 작업은 Yesceramic에서 진행합니다.
유약은 투명유, 색유약, 결정유약 중 선택 가능합니다.


Yesceramic에서 흙을 만지며 자신에게 집중하는 시간을 가져보세요.


수업신청은 사이트에 CLASS 카테고리 혹은 DM으로 신청하실 수 있습니다. 


수업 시간 : 2시간 30분

다양한 핸드빌딩 기법을 통해 흙을 만지고 다듬으며
원하는 형태의 기물을 만들어보는 수업입니다.

아이보리색의 백자토 또는 백조형토 중 선택하여 성형하며,
채색 및 유약 작업은 Yesceramic에서 진행합니다.
유약은 투명유, 색유약, 결정유약 중 선택 가능합니다.

Yesceramic에서 흙을 만지며 자신에게 집중하는 시간을 가져보세요.

수업신청은 사이트에 CLASS 카테고리 혹은 DM으로 신청하실 수 있습니다.

수업 시간 : 2시간 30분

• 지각 시 추가 시간은 제공되지 않습니다.
• 기물 개수의 제한은 없습니다
• 완성된 기물은 3월 중순에 택배 혹은 방문수령으로 받아보실 수 있습니다.

This class explores clay through various hand-building techniques,
allowing you to touch, shape, and refine the material to create a piece in your desired form.

Participants may choose between ivory porcelain clay or white sculpting clay for forming.
Coloring and glazing will be handled by Yesceramic.
Glaze options include clear glaze, colored glazes, or crystalline glaze.

At Yesceramic, take time to work with clay and gently focus on yourself.

You can apply for the class via the CLASS category on our website or by DM.

Class duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes
• No additional time will be provided in the event of late arrival.
• There is no limit on the number of pieces you can make.
• Finished works can be received by delivery or picked up in person in mid-March.
