@dr.rickpescatore On Why So Many Americans Are Deficient In Thiamine & Other Vitamins/Micronutrients

“Even if you were to take your box of cereal off the counter. And it says it has 75% of the recommended daily value of Thiamine (Vitamin B1). No you don’t. First off, that comes from a recommended daily value from the 50’s… They don’t measure the food. It goes into a calculator that says if they’re using this much rice, it should have this much Thiamine. Except the rice doesn’t have Thiamine!”

One of my key takeaways was how much nutrient deficiency affects the gut brain connection. It’s not the only thing, but it is one thing. And CHS is ultimately a disorder of the gut-brain interaction (DGBI). So I’m excited to see more research come out in that area in the future.

The word “Craft” gets thrown around so much and from what I’ve gathered everyone has a different definition. I say it a lot myself and really what I mean when I say it is product from people who care. They care enough to source great genetics, create a solid environment, and take all the necessary steps to put out a high quality, clean product to the end consumer, without any fuckery.

A lot of people say “Craft” is only the elite of the elite. But to me I think there is more nuance to it. Just because it isn’t smoking at the highest level in a competition like PSL, doesn’t mean it’s not a craft product. It just means it isn’t hitting at that exotic level, which is ultimately ok. Most consumers are just looking to smoke good flower at a solid price.

Just my opinion. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts. How would you define “Craft” and is that the highest level of quality?

For some reason the random videos of me talking about pre-rolls and distillate get thousands of views, while the ones where I actually talk about “the good companies” get removed lol. All part of the game I guess.

Anyway, if you’re in Southern California, specifically the Inland Empire, you need to know about Sipkoi.

@sippy.dkoi dkoi is one of the founders and he’s been growing for over 20 years. Before he went all in on Sipkoi, Derek was a professional BMX rider and even built his own bike company.

In 2018, he sold the bike company and made the jump into the legal market. He went all in and started Sipkoi out of Moreno Valley, and he’s been building something special ever since.

I’ve actually been to their cultivation facility and what stood out immediately was just how clean everything was. Talk to any grower and they will tell you that’s very important when it comes to growing quality product. Cleanliness is everything. And you can tell this team genuinely cares about the quality they’re putting out.

But here’s what really sets Sipkoi apart: they’re vertically integrated. The grow and the retail are both right there in Moreno Valley. Most brands, even the good ones, still hand their product off to distributors and dispensaries that may not know how to properly store or represent it. But Sipkoi controls the whole experience from seed to sale. That’s rare, and it’s one of the reasons why I trust them.

@loucksta on what it was like working for Meta and why he ultimately made the decision to start his company @RollPros

Shoutout to @loucksta and @rollpros. It was dope to learn more about his story on this episode of the podcast! Being an engineer from a very early age. Discovering the plant. Using it as a creative outlet. Eventually becoming a mechanical engineer professionally. Working for a bunch of companies, from HP building printers, to Meta building some of their first AR (Augmented Reality) Headsets. To eventually building his own product and starting his own company in the industry.

Kyle built the first Pre-Roll Machine that actually rolls the flower, instead of stuffing it like a cone. And I think what really separates Kyle and the team @RollPros from the rest is that they are focused on quality. A lot of other solutions on the market work a lot better with dryer input material, because it makes it much easier to stuff and pack the cones in bulk. And of course many of us know, a lot of Pre-Rolls are stuffed with the worst shit. Which obviously has given Pre-Rolls a pretty bad reputation. But the Blackbird allows the producer to not compromise on quality. It allows you to run the stickiest, fluffiest, freshest flower through the machine and still rolls them perfectly every time.

I think we ultimately need more people like Kyle in the industry. Smart as fuck. Knows how to build things and solve big problems. And the fact that they reached out to me and liked what I was doing enough to sponsor the podcast says a lot about them as a company!
