We had the opportunity to prepare plant friendlymeals for Supervisor Hilda L. Solis and the SGV Earth Day celebration during LA Climate Week 🌱🍔
We delivered fresh and nutritious vegan sandwiches and falafel wraps. Thank you Daniel Thorman and Support + Feed for the opportunity to end the earth month!

Excited to join Kim, Sam, Josh, and Dan to discuss natural and assisted regeneration and community stewardship at Eaton Canyon. The canyon remains closed for the safety of the recovering ecosystem (ourselves included), but volunteers are welcome to sign up through ECNCA for habitat care workdays. Join us - it’s very satisfying and connective!
Panel is tonight from 5-7 at the LA Arboretum.

BIG NEWS ✨
Earlier this week, we got the official proclamation from the LA County Board of Supervisors to OFFICIALLY observe LA Climate Week as an LA County observance!!
We’re grateful to @hildasolis and @lindseyphorvath for bringing this motion forward, and for the unanimous support of the entire board @lacountybos
LA Climate Week is a community-led movement to build climate resilience and design our local climate future together.
We’re so excited for this proclamation, as it signals a long term commitment from our local officials towards prioritizing grassroots climate action 💪🌎
We hope to see you there!

When wildfires hit Los Angeles last year, the @LAClimateWeek team faced a tough question: Should they postpone? 🔥
As @DanThorman shares in Episode 121, what happened next revealed the true spirit of community-led climate action. Instead of pulling back, their organizing partners and local supporters rallied, insisting the event go on because it was so needed.
The result? In just six weeks, LA Climate Week doubled in size, powered almost entirely by grassroots energy and collaboration. With support from incredible partners like the The @janegoodallcan, @hollywoodclimatesummit, and others, it became clear that this movement was bigger than any one team — it belonged to the community.

Yesterday was a hard day. We lost a friend and partner, Jane Goodall. It has been the biggest honor of my whole life to have been able to be along for even a small part of the journey for Jane’s amazing life. Thank you to @janegoodallinst , @rootsandshoots , and my dear friend, @sjsweeney , for this opportunity to collaborate with @collidescopefoundation and @laclimateweek . While yesterday was a day of mourning for many people, we also know that Jane would want us to continue forward as a large force and amplify her work and mission. When I was chatting with her earlier this year about her wild travel schedule, she told me that she was planning to go full speed until she dropped. She did exactly that, and it is how she wanted it. If we could all be so blessed.
I was so honored to receive a hand-written note from Jane a couple months ago. It is often rare to be recognized for the things that you do, so to receive this letter personally from Jane acknowledging our work was beyond words meaningful and encouraging.
I ended the day on October 1 by purchasing a wonderful bottle of @johnniewalker Black Label. I shared it with many friends that had the chance to meet Jane, and we made sure to finish the whole thing between 5-9pm. I am also pretty sure that Jane would have wanted this as well :)

Storytelling is one of the most powerful tools for climate action. 🎥🌎
Don't miss this week's episode to hear from Dan Thorman & Nishant Mani, co-founders of @LAClimateWeek, about why engaging artists, musicians, and storytellers is essential to reaching people beyond the climate bubble, inspiring everyday citizens to take part in solutions from green energy to decarbonizing their homes.

In case you missed it, last week was #ClimateWeekNYC. There were well over 1,000 events — from summits with CEO and heads of state, to film screenings, concerts, parties, boat cruises, pitch sessions, hackathons and much more. Our host, Jason, tried to sum up his experience at NY Climate Week in a special episode two years ago (Ep #70). This year, of course, the context was different with a US administration no longer interested in climate, and a lot of green hushing, hand wringing and new language that aims to be less politicizing.
One of the most interesting things about the gathering is that it's not the only one. Climate weeks are spreading. San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC, San Diego, Shanghai, Bangkok, Panama City all have climate weeks. There might be dozens more in the works. No city on the planet is immune from the impact of climate, and most cities have thriving ecosystems of organizations, innovators, investors, policymakers, researchers and more working to advance climate solutions and adapt to a changing planet.
In this conversation, we're joined by Nishant Mani and Dan Thorman, co-founders of the @laclimateweek Nishant and Dan saw a need to bring together their community. They volunteered to lead and have built LA Climate Week into a successful example that people anywhere can follow to create their own week of solidarity, learning and action. We talk about their backgrounds, the founding story of LA Climate Week, the impact of the LA wildfires on last year’s event, lessons they’ve learned, and much more. So whether or not you were in New York last week, we hope you’ll enjoy this conversation and consider how you can help your local climate community wherever you are.

Walking into that old art studio, creating art wasn’t even possible.
The electrical issues, the fire hazards — it felt like a disaster waiting to happen.
Instead of walking away, the community came together to fix it. Today, the studio still thrives, serving artists and makers safely.
This is what happens when we choose to support creative spaces — we protect not just art, but community.
