Roulette Intermedium
“One of New York’s most important avant-garde music spaces.” -NY Times

this past Tuesday, Roulette gathered to celebrate extraordinary artists, collaborators, and the living legacy of experimental work at our gala. it was joyful, it was full of history, attended by generations of artists, and it was a reminder of what Roulette exists to do: to say yes to artists taking real risks.
that work does not only happen on one night. it happens all year long — in guaranteed artist fees, commissions, residencies, production support, free livestreams, the ever-growing Roulette Archive, and keeping our theater ready for art that has no obvious home until Roulette says: yes, come make it here. as we enter the final month of our season, we are asking our whole community to help carry that work forward by donating to Roulette. every gift matters! link in bio to donate today.
Roulette’s very existence can feel impossible — borderline miraculous — in this economy and digital age. and yet, Roulette is here because people like you keep choosing to make it possible.

a selection of original text scores by the great Pauline Oliveros—groundbreaking composer, performer, teacher, philosopher, technological innovator, and humanitarian.
this Friday 5.22 we celebrate the release of A Year of Deep Listening (MIT Press, 2025), a publication of 365 scores for listening inspired by Pauline’s work, and gathered by the @centerfordeeplistening in celebration of her legacy. the scores were created by over 300 artists—ranging from prize winning composers to ear-minded grocery store clerks, from those who worked closely with Pauline for decades to those who never met her. originally begun online in honor of what would have been Pauline’s 90th birthday (May 30, 2022), the project shared one score per day on social media for 365 days. edited by @_stepifany, the book brings these scores together into one beautiful and historic volume.
join us for a collaborative exploration of the project, including performances from its contributors alongside new interpretations from deep listeners. performance by @gelseybell, @sethcluett, @vivcorringham, @maryedwards, @jamesilgenfritz, @clavendr, @richter.ben, @janeriglerlistens, @lisaannschonberg. tickets in bio!
