Young people are the future of our parks 👏 The Parks Conservancy connects people to nearby parks, builds climate resilience learning, and brings those lessons back to local communities. This year, youth stepped into the work in more visible and powerful ways.
LINC (Linking Individuals to their Natural Communities) youth leaders restored habitat and visited climate-impacted park sites in the GGNRA like Bothin Marsh. They researched environmental justice topics, built presentations, and engaged with the public at the Heart of the City Farmer's Market.
This summer, the youth in one cohort will work alongside park scientists to gather real data and contribute to projects with meaningful scientific outcomes.
With your support, young people are deepening their connection to the outdoors, and shaping their own paths toward a climate‑resilient future.
To watch the video and another on bilingual birding programs, plus play a fun Lotería game, go to annualreport.parksconservancy.org.

🚨🐺🌊 UPDATE on the Alcatraz coyote (aka Floyd, NOT pictured here): Though Floyd's whereabouts are currently unknown, new DNA evidence collected by @GoldenGateNPS revealed that he originated not from San Francisco mainland, but Angel Island State Park. He's quite the swimmer! Wherever Floyd is, he made park history as the first coyote ever observed on Alcatraz Island.
Remember: If you run into wildlife at any of the parks in the GGNRA, please keep a safe, respectful distance. Read more wildlife encounter tips at the link in our bio.

This #AAPIHeritageMonth, we want to share a powerful new exhibition hosted by the National Japanese American Historical Society (@njahs1980) and @PresidioSF. "I Am An American: The Nisei Soldier Experience" recounts the stories of Japanese American soldiers who served during World War II while their families faced incarceration at home. Through firsthand accounts, historic photographs, and rarely seen artifacts, the exhibition centers personal stories.
This limited‑time exhibit reflects how parks can be a space for reflecting on difficult history while inviting learning and connection.

All communities should have access to the benefits of nearby nature, and that means breaking down barriers to park experiences that might feel inaccessible, like birding. That’s why the Parks Conservancy, Presidio Trust, and partners like Latino Outdoors host Bilingual Birding events in the national parks of the GGNRA.
To see the full video and experience the joy of Bilingual Birding, go to annualreport.parksconservancy.org. You can also play a fun, GGNRA version of Lotería to learn more about park species, and see all the incredible impact people can have for parks. Thank you!

Did YOU volunteer during the restoration of Crissy Field? Do you still have your "Help Grow Crissy Field" T-shirt? If so, we want to hear from you! Let us know in the comments, or send an email with your memories to parksconservancy@parksconservancy.org. 📬🌁💚
The transformation of Crissy Field, 25 years ago this May, was a massive community effort. More than 3,000 volunteers helped remove 230,000 cubic yards of soil and restore Crissy Marsh. Today, the area is a wonderland for birds and other species, thanks to you! If you missed that effort, you can still get out there and volunteer today. Check the websites of the Parks Conservancy, Presidio Trust, and NPS for the latest volunteering opportunities. Thanks for helping Crissy Field grow!
