We are honored to share the films selected for the Aama Studio: Threads of Legacy Film Salon. 🎞️

Each body of work moved us in its own language. Through memory, restoration or questioning, these filmmakers offered reflections that linger. Tracing lineage and the quiet ways history lives on within us.

We extend our congratulations to the selected artists. We are looking forward to experiencing these films together and entering into conversation led by @mayasymonecade around all that they hold.

Drawing from @tavaresstrachan’s immersive exhibition The Day Tomorrow Began, we welcome you to the Aama Studio: Threads of Legacy Film Salon on March 21. This program features a tour of Strachan’s exhibition, short films selected by Aama Studio, and discussions exploring Black liberation, arcs of migration, and evolving identities, linking ancestral memory to possibilities of today and tomorrow.

The film salon will include a private gallery tour by Curator of Contemporary Art Diana Nawi, short film screenings, and discussion space that centers on migration, evolving identities, and the ways ancestral memory continues to shape the present and the possibilities ahead.
