more and more it is sinking in with me that the issues i worry and care deeply about are not separate from arts and culture, they are interwoven. i knew this before, but being able to experience, experiment, express, explore, and embody these frustrations and feelings through different art forms - fashion, embroidery, music, literature, film, drawing, printmaking, mending & more, i feel more connected, and empowered to keep going.

the more we are able to incorporate creativity, joy, and play (and bringing a friend or two!) into these very issues, the easier we are able to talk about and bring in the larger community into the conversation. using art as an unspoken language to weave in our knowledge, solutions, and emotions into a shared understanding.

Musician and presenter Raine Stern, in collaboration with the ClimateMusic Project, will walk participants through the musical piece “Feel It All,” which features real CO2 data and climate research from top scientists translated into MIDI data and expressive sound design.

From Raine: “Feel It All” is my attempt to make the science of climate change not just understandable, but perceptible in the body. You can hear the data: CO₂ rising as ascending distorted notes, problems resolving as descending, playful passages, points on a graph transformed into sound. I’ve taken unbiased, reliable science about solutions and infused it with my own artistic expression — the sonic landscape is joyful where good news emerges, celebratory where the Earth shows promise. Because yes, I am biased: I believe we have a duty to care for this magnificent, mystical world we call home.
