C’est parce qu’on croit que l’art et la culture peuvent sublimer et faire changer les choses, et que créer est un acte politique et social, que nous (Sarah Alsayed,Thomas Humbert) avons décidé de former une ASBL :
Sound Of SWANA.
Dans le contexte actuel, il nous semblait ainsi urgent de réunir des artistes de la diaspora des pays du SWANA, Syrie, Palestine, Liban, Irak, Jordanie, Iran, Turquie, Libye, Egypte, Tunisie, Maroc, Algérie, … et leur donner la parole mais aussi créer la rencontre.
En effet, réunir des artistes de la diaspora et leur donner la parole par le biais de l’art, c’est la manière qui nous semblait la plus proche de nous de réagir au contexte actuel et de lutter contre le racisme et l’injustice. C’est aussi tenter d’inclure toute une diversité, toute une richesse culturelle, en amenant plus de mixité dans la scène musicale alternative, celle qui nous attire le plus car politique, assumée et épurée de toute volonté de conformité. Car la mixité, c’est se rappeler que nous sommes toustes égales et égaux, nous affranchissant alors de tout apriori.
Nos ami.e.s musicien.ne.s (Khateÿm, Daïne, Chaos E.T. Sexual) nous font l’honneur de nous accompagner dans ce projet en participant à cette soirée qui aura lieu le 14 décembre au Cobra Jaune, soirée qui a pour objectif de réunir des fonds pour la création de Sound Of SWANA et la réalisation de ses prochaines soirées qu’on a hâte de partager et vivre avec vous.

@MerryHaddock, musicienne et selecta du dimanche revient pour une nouvelle carte blanche chez Monstera Occulta.
Ces 3 dernières années, elle est partie en famille à la découverte du Gourara, une région du sahara algérien. Elle a décidé de présenter dans cette émission quelques sons du désert glanés au détour d'un nouvel an, un mariage, une cérémonie spirituelle, des balades en rue et en voiture sur une infinité de dos d'ânes.
Entre traditions orales et musique militante réservée aux fêtes et la diffusion de messages mobilisateurs, la musique saharienne et en particulier touarègue est depuis plus d'une vingtaine d'année un produit culturel mondialisé dont on aime comparer ses solistes à Van Halen ou Jimmy Hendrix, puisqu'il est plus simple de parler de "revolution rock" à un public extérieur aux événements politiques relatés et étranger à la langue d’origine.
D'une musique adressée en premieu lieu aux touarègues, les productions du répertoire saharien portent aujourd'hui l'expression de ces peuples dans le monde occidental.
Ce mix présentera des artistes venus des 4 coins du sahara, et quelques enregistrements pris avec son gsm durant ces différents voyages.

La Mérou (@merryhaddock) reprend du service pour une émission spéciale autour de la scène SWANA (South West Asia, North Africa) avec son invitée Sarah Al-Sayed (@taifdebx ). L’artiste Syrienne est à l’origine de l’évènement Sound of Swana for Palestine, qui aura lieu le vendredi 3 mai à @illegaalbelgium . A cette occasion, elles ont échangé autour de leurs cultures, héritages et de la programmation de feu de cet event créé en soutien pour le peuple Palestinien.
En effet, tous les bénéfices de la soirée seront reversés à Medical Aid for Palestinians (@medicalaidpal)
En dialogue avec une programmation musicale qui fait la part belle à la scène alternative SWANA, une exposition d’artistes également issus de ces diaspora sera à découvrir à la brasserie ILLegaaL. Et pour ouvrir ce beau bal, La Mérou fera un warm up à partir de 20h!
