I spent a few days on the road with the legend @frankhurricane recently and wrote 5k words about him. Frank is a towering figure of DIY music, a great American storyteller, and one of the funniest people on Earth. He doesn’t have a manager or publicist and he isn’t really hooked up to the music industry, so you might not know about how special he is if you’ve never been to a show. I wanted to help spread the word, and to pay a little tribute to the great big weird and beautiful American underground more broadly. It’s one of my favorite stories I’ve written. Link in bio!

For Bookforum, I wrote about the great Texas novelist Larry McMurtry, whose chatty, baggy, and affable books took over my life last year. A dream assignment! Link in bio.

Hi! I didn’t see you come in. While you’re there, let me tell you about some gigs…
May 5 at @cassettenyc I’ll be playing Domestic Drafts tunes with two of my neighbors and favorite guys: @beardog.web and @adlankj. Probably playing solo, maybe with some duo stuff interspersed. Guess you’ll have to come see…
May 1st @garcia.peoples plays an extra special May Day celebration of workers and nature and everything else noble and good at the #1 spot @tubbyskingston. Can’t wait to see my Kingston crew.
More stuff on the horizon too, just wanted to highlight those two. Ok back to my book…

I went long on Scritti Politti’s ‘Cupid and Psyche 85,’ an album of amazing musical and intellectual complexity that goes down like cold Coca-Cola, whose uncanny pop songs about pop itself offered a whole new approach to the form that we’re still working through 40 years later. link in bio!

It was a wonderful Domestic Drafts show with @animalsurrender and @wendyeyes @ryans_riddim Duo last night. I knew it was gonna be a good one when I walked downstairs at Cassette and Peter, Rob, and Curt were soundchecking with “Poinciana,” in a version that sounds a bit like Can jamming on Ahmad Jamal’s famous arrangement. Gorgeous, transporting, deeply funky stuff. I’ve seen Wendy and Ryan enough times to know what I’m in for but still always end up gobsmacked, this time by their version of “Wild and Blue,” a song that I can’t front like I knew before they played it—Wendy playing cubist country licks and Ryan making his snare drum sing like a spring peeper. The DD set was a success if I do say so myself, with a couple of songs I’ve never played live before and the crowd paying such close attention it almost freaked me out. @katythekyng joined me for the last few, including a cover of one of my favorite songs ever, “Why Try to Change Me Now?,” filled with beautifully smoky and delicate improvisation from her. @wahssalguod took some nice photos of us. The room was full of friends. Thanks to everyone who played and came out.

This song I wrote this morning might be too dumb to put on an album but I like it so here it is: “The Chamber”
The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
