Release day for this amazing new work by @davidlangmusic - We were so thrilled to collaborate with our long-time friend, the brilliant @theobleckmann - We are in the middle of a tour of this piece with Theo and it has been transformational, it is a powerful and sensitive, and sometimes lighthearted view of a very hard topic. *Trigger warning* the album deals exclusively with the theme of death and suicide which some may find distressing.

A haunting operatic monodrama comes to Los Angeles.

Attacca Quartet and Theo Bleckmann take on David Lang’s ‘note to a friend’ on Feb 28 at #TheNimoy. The 60-minute chamber opera reimagines three texts by iconic Japanese writer Ryunosuke Akutagawa to address our eternal human fascinations with death, love and family.

Centuries of music collide in a haunting and powerful evening with Attacca Quartet. From Renaissance polyphony to contemporary urgency, this programme traces a line through devotion, darkness, protest, and renewal — culminating in the Dutch premiere of daisy by David Lang, co-commissioned by the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam.

Lang’s new work enters into dialogue with George Crumb’s iconic Black Angels, framed by music from Clemens non Papa, Bennet, and Caroline Shaw. An intense listening experience where past and present illuminate one another in moments of beauty, fragility, and force.
