This is not my show as much as I wish it was. Entirely an act of vanity, zipped up a poster for a show I'm on opening duties for that KPP has slated for this Wednesday.
Poster is a selection from Edward von Steinle's "Study of Garments", public domain as usual.

It was a privilege to photograph Homegrown’s Ambient Electronic showcase again at Musikki this year.Opening the show was Kahraba.

Bonne St. Jean Baptiste, Gatineau.
and what better way to celebrate the French is there than watching Australian glass shard wizard/ Death Grips collaborator Lucas Abela rip a set in beautiful Old Hull?
who else?
Death Kneel (TO)
- psychotic harsh sound collage from Max. Max plays in Tomb Mold. I only bring this up to perk the metal fan's ears.
Nimmie Amee (TO)
- new fav. ambient sound collage from Bee. Bee plays in Kleener. I bring this up for a very similar reason I brought up Tomb Mold.
Kharaba (Kingston) - the musical output from No-input artist/ No Static Forever curator Mikey. Mikey's the answer to the old question 'is there anything to do in Kingston besides eat Arby's and go to university?'
LAVOS - Davey's the biggest weirdo in Arnprior. I went to check. it was easy, there's like 12 people there.
poster by @theemalenurse - thanks!

public display of affliction - experimental shows, sometimes ❤️

Thursday April 2nd at The Jester's Bond, NOTAFLOF. The first international acts to play at The Jester's Bond, aka my living room. Ask a punk ie email me (nostaticradioshow@gmail.com) or message @bbbboulos.
Filling in for a fallen-through Ottawa date on The Specky Blokes tour of Canada that Nate is putting on under the Hamilton Tapes banner. This is a great gig for those who like their tape warble, textures, timbres, and found sound curios.
Rory Salter (London, UK)
Rory Salter (@rorysalter__) is based in London, working mostly with sound and performance, as a musician and sound technician. Recordings are available via Index Clean, TEETH, Research Laboratories, Zoomin' Night & others. A new album 'a sky cold as clay' is out now on Infant Tree.
Duncan Harrison (Brighton, UK)
Duncan Harrison (@_adhuman_), poet and sound maker, is one of the strong holders within the South English Weird Noise scene. His music displays a broad array of cut-up sound poetry, improvisational strategies and audio collages with sonic left-overs abstracted from daily environments. No surprise he regularly collaborates with the likes of Dylan Nyoukis, Karen Constance, Pascal Nichols, Ali Robertson and many more.
Shadow Pattern (Hamilton)
Nathan Ivanco’s (@bartonskreet) Shadow Pattern, based in Hamilton, Ontario, is a project for whom the term ‘under-the-radar’ is a cute understatement. Operating with scant regard for the cultivation of listenership or exposure, Ivanco’s work - both as Shadow Pattern and through his Hamilton Tapes label - usually manifests via subterraneously low-key tape editions that rarely if ever make out of his home country of Canada. Typically these releases are procured by direct contact with Ivanco himself and forgo the usual online Noise tape hype cycle. No bandcamp, no webstores, no promo, no bullshit.
Poster by @bartonskreet himself!
Thanks as always, come hang out. NO STATIC strives to provide as safe and inclusive a space as possible, but this is only contingent on those who facilitate and attend these events. Bring your friends, behave, be nice. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, abusers, predators, fascists, and the like are not welcome

Friday March 27th, 8pm SHARP at THE GRAD CLUB! $10 bucks, No One Turned Away For Lack Of Funds. Piloting shows upstairs at The Grad Club (@thegradclub) this is entirely a locals only gig. As mixed a bill as this sort of thing can be really, a public display of experimental music, noise, and any adjacencies to that.
Earthside (@earthside_k) conjures texture out of contact mics, fishing line, a stuffed animal, a mixing board, and whatever else is on hand.
Slow Man Tofu (@slowmantofu) is a Kingston staple, a friend, a collaborator, and a teacher. Expect an attentive approach to field recorded sounds and synthesized sonics. Always a pleasure to see him perform.
*DEBUT PERFORMANCE* for 1-800 DR WASTE (@1_800_dr_waste), digital hardcore and trance from the Leitch frontperson and vocalist. 170+bpm madness.
EGG MODE is Chance Maracle, straight to the point no nonsense harsh noise. Close your eyes, grit your teeth.
Kahraba (@bbbboulos, كهربا) is the NO STATIC house band and my own personal project. Mixing board explorations and FX pedal meanderings. Essentially post-rock from the stone ages.
I made the poster using an acquired version of Adobe Illustrator, some fonts I downloaded online, and using a public domain image sourced from Project Gutenberg's Thought-Forms, by Annie Besant C.W. Leadbeater.
Thanks as always, come hang out.
NO STATIC strives to provide as safe and inclusive a space as possible, but this is only contingent on those who facilitate and attend these events. Bring your friends, behave, be nice. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, abusers, predators, fascists, and the like are not welcome. NO STATIC is powered by you. NO STATIC is forever. NO STATIC is also a show on (@cfrcmusic), live on air Monday nights 6pm to 8pm.

Tomorrow Monday December 22nd, 6pm to 8pm at 101.9FM and cfrc.ca an Extremely On Brand combination of weird, weeb, and wonderful. And if you can't catch it live, you can listen back on the website under NO STATIC.
Rare show specific post to highlight the annual Christmas Winter Solstice Yuletide special. Two short stories, one of which is a Brother's Grimm I read personally. We listen to CANCON cozy winter synth, some recommendations courtesy of @themossknightcometh. I shamelessly insert a cut from episode 6 of Ping Pong The Animation, one of my favourite animes. Scattered in and amongst the usual suspects we also have James Brown, CAN, BA Johnston, Carley Rae Jepsen, and a jersey club flip of a Christmas staple.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays, I hope you listen and I hope you enjoy this time with whoever you like and however you like. Peace, joy, good will to all, etc etc...

Friday December 5th, 7pm SHARP at The Jester's Bond. Email me or DM @bbbboulos for the address. I kind of need to know you or know someone who knows you. It is my (small) living room at the end of the day.
Another show in my living room. Good friends passing by and playing a show. Warm somber comforting textures on a winter's night.
High Grove is a Montreal project consisting of Peau (peauboy) and Sara (@self.detest). A project of care and attention utilizing cuts chords sections and pieces of magnetic tape, woven together and holding you close.
Reaching Needles is Scott (@reachingneedles). Drone and ambient with a subtle sharpness.
White Passing is an entirely unserious outfit second, and a group is friends first.
KAHRABA is my own solo entity. The resident house act for NO STATIC and a project that I continue to enjoy very very much. Expect unpracticed meandering and an improvised pursuit of textures, sounds, and noises confined by a mixing board.
Thanks as always, come hang out.

Grad Club, 7pm doors 8pm sharp, $25 from Something Else Records or their store online, $30 at the door. Will do my best impression of tremolo picking and chainsaw guitars with a mixing board and a dream.
I can very honestly say gigs like this do not happen in Kingston. Forward thinking black metal at the university watering hole.
Supporting @thantifaxath_ and @woeunholy as كهربا during their Kingston stop. Many many thanks to Matt at @somethingelserecords for letting me squeeze onto the billing. I'll have some tapes (!!) and patches courtesy of @earthside_k (!!!!) up for grabs. Proceeds going to The Sameer Project supporting and provisioning camps in Palestine.
Poster by @bnelsonartdesign.

Montreal house show hosted by @drone_crone thank you for the invitation
In good company including a member of the extended Kingston sonic universe @skin0tone , Iranian noise noodler @timeisafascist , and @splinterassembly who was amongst the second ever batch of noise acts I had booked, seen, and played alongside, courtesy of @reachingneedles
See you there

Michael Boulos as كهربا (Kahraba): Behringer 1622FX, a broken 8 inch cymbal, a stainless steel bowl, and a drumstick.
David Parker: synths, samples, microphone.
Album art assembled by David Parker, Michael Boulos and Kaitlyn Brant as Earthside.
Listen: https://dirtyclothesrecords.bandcamp.com/album/fern-point
NOTE: All album profits will go as direct aid to the family of Ahmad living in Gaza who are facing severe violence, starvation tactics, and day-to-day horror. May the genocide end and may all apartheid end now and forever. Palestine will be free.
Fern Point is a live document of a sound art radio transmission that occurred in November 2024 performed by artists Michael Boulos and David Parker aka Bolt of Soy. The audio transmission was performed live on CFRC campus/community radio and was a practice in liberating the electromagnetic spectrum. How free are the radio airwaves for human interaction and sensory connection? What are the limits of the possible? Are radio waves radical carriers of community autonomy? How can sound art and intuitive musical practice exist outside of capitalist productivity and economy?

Big gig! New faces! Debut trio! Friday August 8th at The Jester's Bond, music 7pm doors whenever it's my house you can come by. Funds to the performers as always. The sounds of affected upright bass, fuzzy CRT TVs, and a cacophonous trio.
Ask a punk status in effect, message me or someone who knows where to find The Jester's Bond.
Allinesik (@allinesik) continues their west-to-east-and-back Canadian tour with a stop at my house, blissed out, out of focus, comforting, encompassing. A figure in a scene a few hours west, mkl32 (@mickle32, @audiopollination) is somehow the second person to do upright bass and effects in my house, Michael Broadhead being the first. White Passing is a trio of friends having a good time making bad music, you have seen them around.

NO STATIC is, first and foremost, a radio show on @cfrcmusic as well. Monday night 6 to 8 eastern every Monday for all of time.
