Throwback Thursday…one week ago today at @thegeorgetownclub with special friends @bethwebb and @ankiebarnesnew where we gathered in celebration of Beth’s inspiring new book, “Embracing Beauty” for a lively talk on architecture and interior design and the business of both. Our thanks to the jovial and receptive standing room only crowd that came to listen and share with us that evening. And a special thank you to @wma_icaa for hosting the beautiful cocktail reception and event! Swipe far left to see Dinah’s reunion with her Aunt Beth later that night at Elway Hall. Beth…Will, Dinah and I insist that you and Chuck make your way back to Virginia for a longer visit . Cheers to good friends! 🥃 #architechture #interiordesign #lecture #love #Friends.

What I mean when I say I want a home with character…

Materials that become more beautiful with time. Woods that deepen. Brass that dulls where it’s been touched. Stone that softens at the edges.

The emotional impact of a home comes from this kind of aging. The quiet evidence of a life well lived inside it.

The best interiors don’t stay pristine.
They absorb the people who live there.

That’s what gives a home a soul.

What makes a home feel timeless?

Thoughtful layouts.
Composed, not decorated spaces.
Effortless movement.
Clear visual hierarchy.
Architecture first.

That’s what lasts.

Who says functional spaces cannot be just as beautiful as the rest of your home. In my experience, these are often the spaces clients struggle with the most, yet they are the ones we interact with every single day.

A kitchen, scullery, or working pantry should absolutely function first. But that does not mean it has to feel purely utilitarian. The most successful spaces balance performance with restraint and intention.

I always come back to a few core principles.

Materiality matters. Incorporating natural stone, thoughtfully selected tile, and well crafted metal finishes instantly elevates even the most hardworking spaces.

Function can still be aesthetic. Everyday items do not need to be hidden away. When styled with intention, they become part of the visual language of the room.

Hardware is never an afterthought. It is one of the smallest details, but it carries disproportionate impact and quietly defines the overall feel of the space.

Consistency creates calm. Repetition in storage, whether through matching glass containers or a unified system, brings order and clarity both visually and functionally.

At the end of the day, the spaces you use the most should feel just as considered as the ones you show off.

A bedroom should feel like you.

Often, when I’m approached about a home, the bedroom is where clients have the most questions. It’s a space people tend to overthink, when in reality, the best rooms are the ones that feel intuitive and personal.

Not defined by trends, but shaped by how you live and unwind. Filled with light, layered with natural materials, and designed to be used. A place to rest, to read, to linger, and to welcome others with ease.

When thoughtfully considered, a bedroom becomes more than where you sleep. It becomes somewhere you truly enjoy being.

There is a shift that happens this time of year. The light lingers a little longer, the air softens, and suddenly the spaces we ignored all winter start to feel full of possibility.

And yet, more often than not, outdoor areas remain the most underutilized part of the home.

When I am working with clients, it is rarely the outdoor dining space they think about first. But it is almost always the one that ends up holding the most memorable moments.

More than ever, outdoor living has become less of an afterthought and more of an extension of the home itself. Not just functional, but intentional. Designed with the same level of care as any interior room.

Layered materials that feel elevated but effortless. Comfortable seating that invites guests to stay longer.
Lighting that carries the evening well past sunset. Thoughtful planting that softens the edges and brings you into the landscape rather than separating you from it.

It’s where design meets experience.

And where some of the best conversations tend to happen.

So as the season shifts, consider this your reminder. The space you have been overlooking might just be the one worth investing in most.

This was never meant to be a home for just one moment in time.

It was designed for the life that unfolds here. For holidays that grow a little louder each year. For routines that shift, families that expand, and new traditions that take shape along the way.

Every decision was made with that in mind. Spaces that can hold a full table. Rooms that feel just as right for a quiet morning as they do for a house full of people.

The goal wasn’t just to create something beautiful.
It was to create a place for family to come back to.

A home that evolves with the family, and is ready for whoever walks through the door next.

There’s a reason traditional interiors never feel out of place.

Not because they avoid change but because they’re built on things that don’t need to.

Proportion. Craftsmanship. Materials that get better with time. Spaces that feel collected instead of styled in a moment.

What actually lasts isn’t a specific look it’s the quality and intention behind it.

The most successful interiors don’t exist in isolation. They’re shaped by the architecture, the landscape , and the experience of moving through both.

Natural light, materiality, and proportion all work together to create a sense of continuity between indoors and out.

When that relationship is considered from the beginning, the result is something quieter, but far more powerful.

Spaces that feel effortless. Grounded. Inevitable.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
