Known for pushing boundaries of experimental dancefloor sound in Hong Kong, DARK METAZ return for another bass driven journey into the deep.

This edition invites Florence-based audio architect TOMO of DE RIO party series and label. Guided by fast-paced rhythms, glitch minimalism, and organic textures, he crafts immersive soundscapes where IDM, deep techno, trance, and post-tribe atmospheres dissolve into one another.

Night hours of shifting terrains, involuntary kidney dance, heavy low-end pressure and immersive soundscapes - just as carried by DARK METAZ founder JFÜNG, ritual prescriber Chingyi, and the rising talent of Chxxgh1n.

커뮤니티 중심의 실천으로 알려진 그녀는 기업 및 스타트업 경험을 계기로 DJ로 전환, 이후 음악과 언더그라운드 커뮤니티, 전인적 건강, 홍콩의 자연을 중심으로 활동한다.

“EVOKING RITUALS THROUGH HYPNOTIC NARRATIVES AND SONIC WATERSCAPES”
Chingyi’s musical expression has been emerging as one of Hong Kong’s original voices who purposefully stand in a lane of their own. Born in this harbour, and grew up in the mountains of Szechuan and then Shanghai, transfixed by singing and dancing in animistic processions of Yi people - Chingyi has been going from land to water and back for as long as she remembers. This translates into a life of resilience research, and it inevitably echoes back in her music; Bass-driven firm grip and meandering waterscapes aiming to submerge.

Now being well known for her hands-on community approach, her previous efforts in sustainability and labour rights within a corporate and startup environment left her somewhat disillusioned.Doubts that patching up the problems only kept the machine alive, proved to be a turning point in her pursuing a DJ career path that had music and underground community - but also holistic health and lush Hong Kong natural environment at its core.

In mycelium like spread of influences, with IDM, Deep Tekno, Post Tribe and Experimental Breaks reaching out to deeper iterations of techno, downtempo, ambient— it is still the hypnosis, the narration, and the dancer’s body that’s at the forefront of Chingyi’s thought, understanding that to play music is to evoke rituals.

Not necessarily responding to demands of the time, Chingyi has still managed to garner a place and a following only by severe seductive qualities of her selection, an open invitation, and a stamp of approval that for some of us, it’s not always a night out as much as it is a night in.

Edition 34 of Liminal Saigonese Dreams features an even split between friends from up north and locally based artists, with musical selections focused on the heavier, darker, and bass-driven corners of our sonic realm.

First, hailing from Shanghai, we welcome Liàng on the terrace. Involved with the much-loved Wigwam, Liàng is an artist who aims to break away from classical ambient traditions. His DJ sets rupture ambient orthodoxy with 21st-century futuristic beats. Expect sonic highs and lows—while the mood remains consistently top-notch—marked by sudden turns, unexpected corners, and a broad journey across sound. As Liàng nicely summed it up when asked how to perceive his music: “Toes curled for signals, eyes closed for messages.”

Joining him is a good friend and former Liminal Dreams Hong Kong act, Chingyi. Floating between Hong Kong and Shanghai these days, her musical expression is at times dubby, noticeably darker and heavier, yet infused with moments of lightness. She creates audio scenes that are both bass-driven and gentle. As we reopen the indoor floor, expect Chingyi’s sounds to roam between IDM, the occasional rare deep tekno track, plenty of breaks, and a generous dose of dubby ambient.

Rounding out the breaks section is Dan Lo—our local “ho basileus” of breaks—returning to LSD after a long absence. Known for a signature style that weaves between breaks, the occasional stomper, a few techno cuts, and a lot of smiles, we expect a gentler set this time, sitting at the akron of ambient, breaks, and dub.

Finally, we’re very happy to welcome Chaulichi to round out the bill. One of the new-generation pioneers of Saigon, she is equally a performer, vocalist, and DJ. Departing from her usual club-oriented sound, she aims to showcase a lighter, breezier palette of progressive ambient textures.

As usual, Toss and Youss will be around—perhaps heavy on the sound, but light-hearted as always. Come around, float around, stay around.

Egregore: The Atomic Fall

Marco Maldarella + Chingyi + 各人星系

Following the Genesis, there is the descent.

Egregore returns to guide you inward. Not a club night, but a psychoactive journey into the chaotic tale of the self. On February 22, we descend into the abyss at Wigwam with Marco Maldarella in a rare solo live performance.

Marco’s sound exists at the collision point of ancient memory and the hyper-modern void, where monolithic, primal rhythms fracture into high-definition glitches, and ephemeral voices drift through industrial drones. His is a music that treats the dance floor as ritual space and the self as an egregore: infinitesimally small, infinitely large, and constantly in freefall.

For this second gathering, he is joined by two kindred spirits from the Shanghai underground:

Chingyi navigates the liminal spaces between ambient, post tribe, and IDM with emotional precision. Her sets are woven from texture and tension—deep, immersive journeys that reward the patient ear.

各人星系 (Gèrén Xīngxì) constructs soundscapes from the outskirts of rhythm: fragmented pulses, submerged melodies, and the quiet weight of empty space. A descent within the descent.

This is the atomic fall. Ancient rhythms. Fractured futures. One night at Wigwam.

始源之后，便是坠落。

Egregore 再度归来，引你向内探寻。这不是一场寻常的俱乐部之夜，而是一次深入自我混沌叙事的迷幻旅程。2月22日，我们将随 Marco Maldarella 罕见的个人现场，坠入 Wigwam 的深渊。

Marco 的声音存在于远古记忆与超现代虚空的交汇点, 宏伟而原始的律动碎裂为高清故障脉冲，飘渺的人声在工业 drones 中若隐若现。他将舞池视为仪式空间，将自我视为一个“Egregore”：微小如原子，宏大如宇宙，永恒处于自由落体之中。

本次聚会，两位上海地下场景的同频艺术家将共同加入这场坠落：

Following the Genesis, there is the descent.

Egregore returns to guide you inward. Not a club night, but a psychoactive journey into the chaotic tale of the self. On February 22, we descend into the abyss at Wigwam with Marco Maldarella in a rare solo live performance.

Marco’s sound exists at the collision point of ancient memory and the hyper-modern void—where monolithic, primal rhythms fracture into high-definition glitches, and ephemeral voices drift through industrial drones. His is a music that treats the dance floor as ritual space and the self as an egregore: infinitesimally small, infinitely large, and constantly in freefall.

For this second gathering, he is joined by two kindred spirits from the Shanghai underground:

Chingyi navigates the liminal spaces between ambient, post tribe, and IDM with emotional precision. Her sets are woven from texture and tension—deep, immersive journeys that reward the patient ear.

各人星系 (Gèrén Xīngxì) constructs soundscapes from the outskirts of rhythm: fragmented pulses, submerged melodies, and the quiet weight of empty space. A descent within the descent.

Egregore 再度归来，引你向内探寻。这不是一场寻常的俱乐部之夜，而是一次深入自我混沌叙事的迷幻旅程。2月22日，我们将随 Marco Maldarella 罕见的个人现场，坠入 Wigwam 的深渊。

Marco 的声音存在于远古记忆与超现代虚空的交汇点——宏伟而原始的律动碎裂为高清故障脉冲，飘渺的人声在工业 drones 中若隐若现。他将舞池视为仪式空间，将自我视为一个“Egregore”：微小如原子，宏大如宇宙，永恒处于自由落体之中。

本次聚会，两位上海地下场景的同频艺术家将共同加入这场坠落：

Chingyi 以敏锐的情感穿行于氛围、科技舞曲与低音音乐的阈限空间。她的 sets 由纹理与张力编织而成——深邃、沉浸，回报那些耐心聆听的耳朵。

各人星系 在节奏的边缘构建声音景观：碎裂的脉冲，沉潜的旋律，以及空无的寂静中那份沉重的分量。一场坠落之中的更深坠落。

He brings high-definition IDM glitches and contemporary left-field electronic music into a deep post-tribe experience, crafting intricate sonic narratives that merge hypnotic tension with raw energy.

Chingyi’s musical expression has emerged as one of Hong Kong’s most original voices — an artist purposefully standing in a lane of her own. Born in this harbour city, she grew up in the mountains of Sichuan and later in Shanghai, transfixed by the singing and dancing found in the animistic processions of the Yi people. Chingyi has moved between land and water for as long as she can remember — a rhythm that resonates throughout her life and music alike.

Between high techno, deep house, and world music, Marina curates a vanguard upbeat quest felt under cinematic transitions. Knitting them together, a journey of living moments metaphored into sounds charging towards unity. All the while in Hong Kong, Marina Ruiz still lives in a Mediterranean-Armenian soup of earthly and otherwordly delights.
