Have you ever seen a hummingbird's incredible tongue? Or their wings not flapping?These have been some of my favorite creatures my entire life.How lucky am I to be able to see them up close so frequently.Since they usually aren't ever still, I thought I'd share some detail shots, as I revive this one.
They usually don't feel so lucky at first. When we meet, it's because they've gotten lost, frightened, and just about given up.In this case,I thought it was already expired from exhaustion,but I had to try.
Their heartbeats vibrate faster than your phone,but a bit softer.This one I couldn't even feel anything at all... wasn't sure there was anything left.I warmed it in my hands,then dipped it's beak in sugar water until it got the idea. Eventually,it's heartbeat and strength returned...
