Over the course of the month, residents will immerse themselves in Da Nang while developing a creative project, to be presented in a public exhibition hosted by Space Garden at the end of the residency. In the past, residents have painted murals, created dance choreographies, launched storytelling projects, and more. Some residents work on multiple projects during their time with us. Our only expectation is that at least one project is completed and ready for the Space Garden exhibition.

Community engagement is central to EXPERIMENT’s ethos. Resident projects often respond to the local context in some way – whether it’s a mural for a local NGO, a puppet show exploring the history of a neighborhood business, or a photography series documenting local street fashion. Many residents also choose to host workshops or public gatherings, sharing skills and knowledge with the wider community.

The program is open to Vietnamese and international artists alike. The primary working language of the residency is English. Vietnamese-speaking residents are especially encouraged to apply. Translation support may be informal and peer-based.
